When I started my job in the Hospital, I learned too much about organization of job, job in a team, culture about the job. Supervisors were so kind. I never felt any discrimination. The hospital was small and I could learn so fast, about everything. I started like a Housekeeping for two years approximately, then I had the opportunity to change as a Dietary Aide. In the kitchen I could learn more, about cleaning, help to prepare the trades for the patients, help serving the food for residents and patients. I enjoyed too much that part. The hardest part was remembering the different dishes, food, cutleries for each patients, but at the end I got it, following the instructions and the practices.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working alongside others with the same passion and desire to help others.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Pandemic was hard on everyone with rules and restrictions and still continues to be. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s a great place to work with diverse cultures and everyone’s very friendly and love what they do.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Days are quite busy, however my day isn’t like other areas so hard to give an objective idea of what a typical day would be like.

I've worked at 3 different locations for southern health and have enjoyed all 3. After working in other health regions I find southern to have the best equipment to better help the staff and residents, as well as more activities to engage patients with. People are treated fairly and without forced care there. I enjoyed my years with this company very much. 

Working at Southern Health was horrible. I was treated like a machine not a human. My schedule was a nightmare, when I was diagnosed with work related PTSD I received no support from my manager only from co-workers and my union. 

Management is fair and lots of OT if you want it, good coworkers. Busy days which go by fast. Days can be packed with lots of work depending on the day. Scheduling always tries working with you. 

The team I worked with was great, however there was little support and direction experienced from executive management (their plates are already too full).  If you are someone interested in often taking the lead and thinking of creative solutions, this may be for you!

The families were appreciated of the work done

Management management management... terrible communication 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very stressful and lots of bullying

A typical day consisted of cleaning rooms and rushing to finish my section because most were too big for the hours. Management consisted of a lack of communication as well as going against initial agreements involving hours. The hardest part was fitting all duties into the shift.

Was really fun to work with the different people. Met many people, overall a great experience. Everyday was different, but the people made it fun. The most enjoyable part of working here was the enviroment of the job, everyone was always in a good mood which was great.

Extremely friendly team and culture. Management is great and I have never met so many friendly people in one working unit. 

I am learning a lot, every is very patient with training.
