You are just a number at Southlake, they don’t value you as an individual employee and have no problem discarding you or pulling the rug out from beneath you by relocating you from one area to another. It’s very easy to overwork yourself and stretch yourself thin at this facility so recognizing that the hospital management will not thank or acknowledge you for anything of the sort is to be anticipated. A lot of funding is being reworked making linens scares on the floors alongside other equipment ultimately raising the tension in the facility because workers don’t have enough of these things to do their jobs properly on a daily basis. To have to go every day being told to cut costs and mindful about things like equipment while not being able to care for patients as your main priority as a front line worker is ridiculous and unsustainable. Not only that but by sacrificing the wellness’s of pts in their new budgeting plans (2024) it’s putting yourself as a frontline worker at a higher risk of liability with the pt with lack of supplies when at the bedside. There’s a reason this hospital has such a high turn over rate in front line staff so please be advised of that when applying. 

during the three months of training it was hard and extremely stressful when you have a bunch of supervisors licking the floors and walls to see if you left a little speck of dust during audits. i didn't get a chance to learn anything during training they just handed a book to you and let your way without knowing where to go in the hospital. managers were picky and not so helpful. the workplace culture was okay but not wow. the hardest part of the job (during training before getting in the union and getting let go for false accusations) is they would be over your heads constantly and find small debris and fail you, ( as you do your best). the most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new staff some friendly but 80% would talk behind your back and accuse you for something that you clearly did not do or if they didn't like you because of your performance they would chit chat with the managers and say a bunch of lies just to let you go. (which is not fair what so ever) 

The old CEO was okay, at least she cares about the nurses.. This new CEO?? OMG he is going to take away the regular PSW from the floors and the management said nurses have to do all the care, and because we relied too much on the PSW, we are losing them now .. WTH, just like other patients they blame it all on nurses, we DO EVERYTHING
At the end of the day, whatever. Nurses take turns to call in sick, it is the patients who suffer and families keep complaining for not changing the patients an hour after they called .. you can only do so much 
When short, you get 5 -6 patients and sometimes 7-8 patients at night depends where you work. Politics everywhere the same in other hospitals. Used to be an okay place to work, but now? I don’t really know especially they want to cut costs and blame it all on nurses (just like the patients and families ) and the managers can’t do anything because “this is how it is, it is the order from director above”. They have the posters on the wall and you could suggest improvements, HAHA.  

I am currently working in the Health Care Industry as a Coordinator, Health Information Services with previous experience as a Data Quality Analyst.
After Eight (8) years at my current employment, I have decided to pursue career opportunities to utilize my interest, knowledge and experience of network analysis and system analysis to drive projects to successful completion. My experience as an intern at Southlake was pleasant because of the exposure to the different activities in the communications office. It is not an overly high stress environment and there is an emphasis on internal communications in my role. I admire that they are catching up on social media and being transparent with their communications to the community. There has been some negative media coverage during my time due to workplace violence but the hospital showed initiative in providing a solution and has brought it to senior management to put in place a code white button for each staff on their badge.The most enjoyable part of the job are the collegiality of the coworkers. My managers and director were helpful and always open to feedback.

Management did not provide adequate training to me. No formal or informal feedback given from my manager. Management instead of looking at the work flow and process issue, blamed the staff instead.  Everyone was tired and overworked and under appreciated. The hospital has an archaic system of electronic health records and often orders would be missed because somebody couldn’t read a doctors writinng or just placed a patients chart in the wrong orientation. If only the patients knew! Lots of medical errors made giving me anxiety and worry about my patients everyday. After a month I was burnt out. Would not recommend since the employer doesn’t invest in your growth as a professional for how much effort you put in.

I volunteer for the Eating Disorder Program at Southlake Hospital. I typically go into work every chance I get to increase my hours for medical school. A typical day working at Southlake consists of entering patients charts into a database in hope to find correlations among the patients' disorders. The hardest part of working in a hospital is having to see people struggle and in pain. However, the most enjoyable part of the job is being able to help those struggling and in pain, I am able to comfort and talk to patients about their sufferings and worries and try to help them. Knowing I can positively impact people on a daily basis is what makes this job so rewarding.

This is the worst place on earth to work for - staff turnover is so high that it's hard to remember who comes in and goes. Management is so cut throat and transparency is not part of their culture. However, they'll pay you high figure to get you in then start laying off staff from your team to cover that cost, job security is a hard find here. There is always a hidden agenda at the top brass, and a lot of infighting with hospital board. This place is a good example of closed door management style and all about "make me look good' management. Micro management and riding on fear culture is what you'll experience here. Stay away from this toxic place (foundation).

There is no true support, it has bad moral with Food Services... The supervisors do not back up their employees...

Everything, everyone dislikes being their..  Quick turn over with staff... now I know why... it's how people are treated with not proper training
