I started here because I needed money, they’re always hiring & I heard you get paid more as a driver. I make $2 PER PAYCHEQUE more than my assistant. Not worth it. 
We don’t get paid for travelling between houses & usually you end up driving from one end of the city to the other, just to end up back on the side you started at. So I could be out from 6:30am, only get home at 5:30pm after pickup & drop off of my partner, as well as waiting for her smoke breaks, coffee breaks, food breaks, etc. but only get paid like I worked for 6 hours. Then there are some days that you think you’ll be home early, so you’ll make plans or an appointment, but then they’ll add to your schedule and tell you to suck it up.
There is NO time to go to appointments, so if you struggle with mental health, and need regular therapy or physical maintenance (physio, chiro, massage), then know you’ll be giving all of that up, as you’re especially not allowed time off during winter months.
There are occasional tips, but management tells customers to hold out until Christmas & then if you end up with different customers around Christmas, you could end up with no tips anyways. 
As a driver/crew leader, you’re responsible for EVERYTHING - If you assistant forgets to clean something, or breaks something, or forgets a bottle of cleaner, it’s your fault. You’re fully responsible for keeping to the time you’re supposed to be in the house, for all the supplies, for making sure the house is cleaned properly, even though there’s a whole other person with you who is also capable of making mistakes. on top of being fully responsible, they don’t train you. You’re expected to know how to clean someone’s house they way the company expects. They won’t give you expectations, just assume that you know what to do if you’re handed a translucent bottle with pink liquid in it.
Another problem is that they DO NOT maintain the cars. Many of them have various problems & personally I’ve been in 4 cars, and heard from many other crew leaders that their cars all have the following lights on: transmission, engine, ABS, and traction. The tires are BALD all-seasons, they don’t do the work on the breaks, you have to take the car in on your own time to get the oil changed, you have to add air to the tires yourself, at this point I’m surprised I don’t have to change the tires myself too - probably should though.
Girls have gotten into accidents in these cars and then the management turns around and acts like it’s all the drivers fault, when they’re giving us death traps to drive. I’ve even been told by management that the smart car CANNOT go out in the winter and I’ve seen girls driving it in the snow.
Management is also completely lacking in sympathy, empathy, any kind of kindness.. they complain about clients when they have to cancel & they complain about you when you can’t come to work, even for reasons beyond your control, & they tell you that you’re not allowed to be off in the winter months, but that’s just not realistic.
On top of management, there’s also the cleaning staff. Some of the girls are great! But some of the older ones think they know everything and expect you to clean like them, in the same order as them & then there are also really catty girls here, so it’s almost like high school all over again.
If you’re thinking of working here, unless you can put up with alllll that & more, don’t do it.

This company is by far the worst I've ever worked for. The hours are ridiculous - although they lead you to believe it's a normal 9-5 Mon-Fri - they aren't. They exclude to tell you that you're a taxi for your co-worker. You are responsible for picking them up and dropping them off, as well as you get no lunch, no breaks, and no traveling pay. So if you're a parent dropping off children to childcare you'll need to factor that in. For me it was drop kids off, pick up whoever my partner was that day and then go to our first appointment... Sometimes the co-worker and the appointment were on different sides of town! 
The management have such a miserable attitude. If you have a problem I wouldn't waste your breath with them. They aren't approachable or friendly.
The staff acts like they are a bunch of gossiping school girls and are very unprofessional. 
I wouldn't recommend this company for anyone to work at. It was awful. I quit before my three months probation was over... Which is sad because I needed a job but when you put more money out than you're receiving, plus the stress, long hours, and overall just being miserable, it's just not worth it.
The only plus was the rare tip... Also don't open your tips if in an envelope in the office. Evidently you're required to share tips with office staff if you open it with them around... Found that out the hard way.

I have worked at Sparkles for many years, and the best part about this job for me as a mother are the hours. I work Monday to Friday, with fluctuating start and finish times each day. I work anywhere between 6-8 hours a day, never working past 5:00pm. I get a company car, which I can use for personal use after hours and weekends. The company does provide a weekly gas card which generally covers any gas used during working hours, I put my own gas money in for personal use. The office staff are pretty understanding and accommodating, they deal with a lot every day. I also get benefits through the company, they're not the best but better than nothing. I love my regular customers, they are amazing! and the tips are great! So, if you like to clean, have kids, and need a vehicle this job is great.

Awesome company! Owner is great and very funny :) I get my own personal use of a company vehicle and they give me gas money and pay all the insurance and maintenance! Yes it’s hard work, we do about 4 houses a day everyday (Monday-Friday) but they try and match us up with a great partner and we have a great day together! We get paid weekly, every Friday! And even pay is for travel inbetween houses, we even get the freedom to stop at Tim Horton’s or wherever we would like to go for lunch quickly.

Horrible, horrible place to work! If your a driver and you think you’re getting paid more you’re not! You get the brunt of it all! When I was a driver I had to wash all the rags full all of the cleaners I even had to pay for gas. They did supplement you with some gas money, one week they gave me $30 for the whole week and my partner had to give me $10. How can you drive from house to house and one side of the city to drop your partner off then back to your house on the other side of the city for that much gas?

The work wasn't the easiest but my partner is great. Now that the management has started moving our houses around so we have less travel time between we aren't going back and forth to the same area later in the day. Its nice to have a vehicle to go get my groceries and grab my kids and not have to pay for repairs. The management is funny and helps whenever they can. Overall its a pretty good job.

Management is horrible.  I worked there for just over a year and I couldnt take it anymore.  The work is great if you can handle it.  Clients are lovely (most of the time) pay is okay but with the amount of work and stress the office puts on you, the pay could be better.   Management takes nothing the cleaners have to say into consideration and all they do is talk smack about the girls AND eachother. If you can get passed the disrespect from management, youll be okay here.

There is a bit of freedom with this job; the ability to get up and run your schedule without having to step into the office. The office is full of catty women who just complain and they have zero problem-solving skills. Management expectations are high and yet training seems to be unimportant.

The managers at the Kitchener location are down right jerks.  Will insult you, call you by the wrong name, threaten you when you quit.  Absolutely horrible.  Very disorganized. Vehicles are not maintained in any way or any of the cleaning supplies.  You will feel foolish and embarrassed wearing their company shirts after a few days. 
Plus if a customer has a complaint, they will send you back to the upset customer. IGNORANT

Working at sparkles was overall as expected. It is really fast paced and on your hands and knees with no appreciation or respect from the Employer or the other staff. The expect so much and give nothing in return. In fact a lot of the time you buy your own cleaning supplies because the ones they supply you with do not work well and are very dirty. As people who work here are really rude.
