The job itself of driving school bus is really fun and I loved every second of it. 
I learned not to trust management of a bus company through my own regrettable experience.
Management is very shady and hides documents, omits people’s paperwork and alters what they hand in to make themselves look better, they not once in almost 2 years of driving give me a full and coherent route package to follow. My first route (3 days after I passed my class 2+S endorsement. They simply threw me on a run and ignored the fact they gave me a mislabeled attendance sheet, a map that was missing multiple roads, and forced me to continue driving in thick fog across 2 busy highways after I told them I wasn’t comfortable with it. They don’t care about the drivers, we are just peons to them who can be replaced. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Excellent and professional company. Cares about your well being and easy to work with. Being a technician for over 30 years this is by far the best company to work for by far.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It gets busy like everywhere else but the stress level is very low here because we have a great team of managers and co-workers 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not clicky and there is a lot of respect between employees 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Coffee, work inside and outside. Can be very hectic but we always have people who have our backs in any situation

My favourite part about working as a school bus driver was seeing the kids each day. I got to know them well and it brightened my day seeing there faces every morning and afternoon. My co-workers were awesome and we all got along well. I would have to say the hardest part about the job would be the split shift. Also some of the buses in the winter were hard to warm up and that made things a little uncomfortable. Overall I enjoyed my time at Sparksman.

It’s convenient to be able to bring your children with you to work so the amount you save in daycare costs make up for the part time hours. 
Management definitely takes favourites and this is what makes the job difficult.  They speak down to employees. There’s no give with them it’s all take. Impossible to get a day off if your child is sick you are told to bring the child with you.

I really enjoyed my time there. If you go in an do your job. You'll be fine. I loved my route. My students. School board is great.

Don't get involved with the gossiping and back stabbing. Too many woman. Choose carefully who you speak with. I highly suggest not making friends with some of those women. Keep it professional. Management likes to play favories too.

Management would have been the stressful part.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not bad. Pay is average but not a lot of room for promotions. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Repetitive. Same thing every day

Management was favoured over other drivers and it caused some chaos within the employee's.  
Drivers learned to avoid confrontations within the office and worked together as a team to the best of everyones schedule.
Great to be able to take our younger children to work and have on the bus while we worked.

A typical day starts with a pre-trip inspection of the bus, pick up the students and drop them off at school, have a few hours off and then pick up the students at school and return them to their homes. overall it is a good job and I enjoy seeing the children every day,

Good company to work for But they don’t pay NLA .will cheat your pay every time only pay you if you keep track and call them on it .worst part you fill time ticket keep copy a must .you’ll need it on pay day .pay comes line forms didn’t get paid right maybe 10 people every two weeks.

Sparksman was a good opportunity when you have small kids.  You are able to bring them with you on your job and it’s very convenient.  It helped teach you child management.
