A typical day at Speedy would be shop clean up in the morning, preparing for the day with a fresh start. After the clean up, we would get our tools ready and create work orders for the customers vehicle so that work can be started.

Working at Speedy, I've learned a lot about how certain jobs should be done, how a shop should run, what customer service should be like and because I job shadowed a technician there, he kept teaching me about certain areas of the car like electrical, EVAP and so on which helped a lot in the learning process.

The management and co-workers left a standard for a workplace that is irreplaceable. The management made sure everything was going smoothly, along with that making sure the workers had a good time while working.  The co-workers at Speedy had a lot to learn from, and hearing about how they got in the field, and learning so much from them, the co-workers set the mood to come to work everyday with a positive attitude.

The hardest part of my job was doing certain tasks on my own which I wasn't trained for, and by working with the technician guiding me through what to do without physically helping me was hard but exciting to do as well. The most enjoyable part of the job was taking the vehicles for a road test, seeing how accurate I would be as to what the problem can be and how to fix it.

What is the best part of working at the company?
they give you fixed rate which is great when just starting out or if you have a large job that pays very little.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I was expected to show results right off the bat since I went to school for it and so you have to really try to go fast even if you don't have the mussel memory or the endurance to go as fast as you need.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I worked at two locations and at one it was relaxed where they didn't mind the slower pace I was working at but the other would tell me to work harder and faster when I'm sweating my but off, but at both locations you get close enough to where you can make fun of the people there and they can make fun of you because it feels like family after about a week

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
tires and oil because I was a first year apprentice but after a while you will be given more; I just make a mistake that had me let go before I could get to that point but there was another first year there so I know that in your first year as an apprentice you will have fun work to do.

At Speedy you get the Speedy service you need, there is no doubt about it. There is much to learn there as well, if given the chance to be properly trained there is no doubt someone could do the job with their eyes closed. The manager there is easy going but still a boss to an employee, and is always smiling. The employees there are welcoming and easy to talk to, and have no problem making a friend out of one another if given the chance. The hardest part about the job is keeping on task with things that you aren't fully trained in but are expected to do, as well as keeping on top of paper work that was already done before you even began working there, and you get blamed for it being missing. The most enjoyable part of the job at Speedy is that if you're finished everything you were hired to do and there are no customers then you are able to go and mingle with your co-workers.

But I would not suggest working there if you're looking for a job that will last longer then a week shy of 3 months...

Most jobs in the automotive trade are very similar. You have a license to repair automobiles and you do such. The difference is the management, when you work for people who understand the trade and have experience in shop environment it helps substantially. Not the case here. Just because you can buy a franchise doesn’t mean you know the trade. I don’t recommend it. Find a place where you are appreciated and owners understand the trade!

The owner and the staff were the highlight of the job. They were super helpful and understanding and made the job enjoyable everyday. I was made to feel like I belonged and I was part of the team which is the best thing you can feel in a workplace. Overall it was a great place to work and a super enjoyable experience.

I worked hard for Speedy Auto, I did not approve when they sent in a secret shopper to evaluate how we were required to up-sell customers that came in.  I suggested that a lady get rid of the old clunker that came in instead of me selling services and repairs on a junker.  This kind of action gives a mechanic and a company a bad name.

having experience in the automotive industry is a great factor when working at speedy but the way management was its not the best place to be. declining customers left right and center, very degrading towards younger people still learning, and very judgemental on the facts you know and try to give to help the situation.

Just like any thriving automotive business in this day and age.. the work flow fluctuates. However there was never a lack of stuff to do or things to fix!  Spent a lot of time working on exhaust systems (from custom fab to direct replacement), and aligning vehicles for Many other shops around town.

Great employees however management is nice but very demanding will try to underpay I left because they wouldn't increase my pay to 1 dollar over minimum wage even though I was doing the work of a second or 3rd year apprentice.

I was apart of the team at speedy for a number of years, started as an apprentice and became licensed with the company, learned a lot about the business and trade during. Good place to grow as a technician. This shop is unlike a typical chain franchise store, is family owned and ran.
