The work environment at S.P.I.K.E breeds hostility. Poor management and sub par training fuels the disconnect between employee and proper residential care.

My experience working in one of their homes was almost entirely negative, save from the residents themselves which are wonderful. 

Expect little support from supervisors (if you can even find one or have one answer their phone). If something goes wrong, the company will not take any responsibility, but blame it on under trained staff.

The company preys and thrives on low cost, foreign workers that are in desperate need of a job. English is rarely spoken in the homes. Be aware of this if you are a newcomer to Canada.

The hardest part of the job was seeing the residents live in filthy conditions will little food to eat.

Best part of the job was watching residents have fun and smile.

I learned that even in non-profit organizations, it's run like a business with maximum cost reduction VS resident care. In other words, the company would rather save money than care for their residents.

The residents who have been needed help are completely dependant on us so the care we provided made their  lives better and happy, Most of them would be very depressed about their lives It has been a great challenge to divert their moods into positive feelings.At the end of the day when I go home I felt so happy and satisfied that I made someone happy by helping them which in return made me a satisfied person so what else would be more happier than this.

They don't necessarily hire people who are experts in the field which creates two issues. The first is that the clients are more often treated like children to babysit, than adults that need support. The second is that staff are treated as easily replaceable and not well respected. Both of these lead to a lower quality of care for clients, who are the best part of the job. 

Would give NO stars if possible.  The management r terrible .  They let a guy die in one of the houses due to lack of watching the residents . Which goes to Lack of training.   They see all of there employees replaceable.  And the residents that live there r being treated poorly by some staff . The management only sees the residents and staff as money  not humans .  . Terrible company.  I suggest no one to work here or send loved ones here.

the management team is horrible they treat you like a child and they favour men in the work place, many female employees brought up how male staff were treated differently and they got laughed at. This company did NOT take information seriously and they do not know how to treat their staff. AVOID WORKING HERE

Was a very difficult job with very little support from coordinators in helping in difficult situations. Benefits were very few. For example got no vision benefits apart from $70 of eye test. The pay was one of the lowest for similar position within that district.

There was very little of my experience here that I enjoyed other then the Residents themselves.
The schedules were set up to benefit the Management and not the employee i.e. one home the hours were that you got to be off forty hours a week rather then working 40 hours due to the asleep at night shifts.

This company should be shut down and investigated by Manitoba Housing.

Neglect clients, severely under trained and underpaid staff. They don't care one bit about employees, only themselves.

Almost 0 training provided when caring for extremely vulnerable persons.

0 support from management

Shady practices occurring in manager's offices, money is missing, funds aren't redistributed to employees but kept by management.

i didnt have an enjoyable time doing my practicum at this place, i found it unprofessional and not the best training was provided. also i felt very left out with all the staff as they all spoke different languages
