As someone who's worked for this agency I can honestly say that yes, some days are hard, some days you will want to throw your hands up and quit, but those days are far and few between, for every single one of those bad days there's 10 fantastic days to counteract that. I can understand the frustration of individuals coming into the agency with lower prior knowledge of just how tough residential/long term care can get, but a lot of these individuals had the disadvantage of pursuing post secondary during a global pandemic which prevented them from hands on learning that placement would have allowed them. The company itself gives a mandatory course for non violent crisis interventions that have a refresher course annually and if staff feel that isn't adequate, they're encouraged to join the monthly course that is run for new hires until they've gained the confidence needed to handle each situation properly.

The hours can be long and sometimes you're short staffed, but that's almost every job you'll encounter in this economy, it's not hard to have work life balance if you're capable of planning in advance, and even then you have your schedule at least a month in advance which allows for planning your personal life.

A lot of the negative reviews seem like the by product of disgruntled former employees that anticipated hand holding and micromanaging, this is an unrealistic expectation of the management team in an agency such as this, there's too many moving parts for people to hold hands and give gold stars every step of the way, and all the management, from personal experience give credit where credit is due.

All in all is it a hard job? Somedays yes, somedays the compensation and recognition will never seem like it's enough for what we do, however we chose to enter a very thankless field, and watching the progress of each and every resident and the rapport and relations of individuals who may have never stood a chance if SVRS didn't exist, is more thanks and reward than any verbal praise could ever amount to. 

Lied about pay rates, lied about hours of work. Lied about location of work. Most of the people that work there including supervisors are fresh out of school with little to no experience on how to work with the residents from a client centered appropach/harm reduction/strength based.  Most of the individuals working there are from a corrections background which really has nothing to do with supporting residents with special needs.  The programming is laughable as there really isn't any.  People sit on thier phones all day long and ignore residents. The supervisors in most houses have no idea on how to train new staff nor be professional in any sense of the word.  They also want you to spend 2 days training for free (no one does unpaid training). Whats more, beware of milage it is the lowest I've ever heard of at 30 kmh (national average is 56). Stay away from this place, it will never change. Unfortunately 
the residents suffer. Turnover Rate is crazy and your expected to drop everything to keep going in to work shifts that are not yours. it's just not worth the time or aggravation.  

It's very meaningful work, very client focused and gives a great sense of purpose, it can definitely get trying at times dealing behavioral outbursts of varying intensity.
The wages don't necessarily reflect what is required and expected of you. 
A couple years ago the wages where livable for the area but they are defiantly falling behind. The company does offer very decent medical and dental benefits.

There is a bit of an 'over working culture' you feel if you're not taking on constant overtime and extra duties you're not doing enough. 
Always make sure you have firm work life boundaries for yourself or you'll end up burnt out here. Many people have fallen into this and burned themselves out and then feel resentful.

Good days are absolutely phenomenal. Bad days are complete polar opposite.

Being a behavioural counsellor allows for the chance to improve the lives of those that need it most. That is offered at Springview, but the physical aggression from the clients and lack of preparation from the company is something to be knowledgeable about before putting yourself in those situations. The work culture differs from house to house but is overall highly toxic. Unequal treatment, gaslighting, targeting, elitism, and refusal of repeated requests for help are quite common. Make sure to set your boundaries and abilities before applying.

A very young team of  workers constantly playing pick up due to lack of field experience .
A management team that has no true grasp or conceptual concept of the programming they try to deliver for their clients Accesement clinicians that make recommendations for clients they have never actually met in person.. This will be the enviroment you will be expected to work within.Usually short staffed,and little support when legitimate problems are brought forward by the same managers/ supervisors that have the least experience to deal with them in the 1st place. There are some that truly try and some that are truly trying  

I worked here 6 months, group home is tough work but you are paid fairly. Clients have their good days and bad days. It is so understaffed that you are usually tasked with 2 one to one clients, and there are only 3 staff at the house when there is supposed to be 5-6, management constantly calls you on your day off to work. When hired you are told it’s a 30 hour contract but they schedule you 60 hours a week. The reason I left was because of burnout. The clients and staff are great to work with, you are just treated like a machine by management. 

as far as pay goes with this company it is based off agreeing with management. for example you can be with this company for a number of years and be within 50 cents wage of someone who has been there just six months. Hard work and care goes unrewarded if you do not fit in within the agreeable culture management expects employees to conform with. 
Overall it is a nice social enviornment if that is what you are seeking. 

I havent worked there in quite a while but can’t help but laugh everytime I come across a job posting. This place will always be hiring, because they can’t keep any staff. As a female it definitely feels like a male workplace, the majority of the management/supervisors/full-time workers are all dudes who have been friends for years or are people who are dating which is very intimidating, especially overhearing some of the conversations they have about other staff not in their inner-circle.

Not every day at springview is easy, but what do you expect? It's a group home. This place is ran very professionally and their management makes sure you are equipped with the right skills to handle almost every situation. From working at all of the houses I can confidently say that these clients are getting taken care of properly. With the experience that I'm gaining here I will be able to make big steps in this field of work.

Most clients should be a 2:1 however they don’t have the staff to do so. Management runs employees into the ground and wonders why no one wants to work. Employees have to fight tooth and nail for a day off or a sick day. Appliances in the house such as washer, dryer and dishwasher always broken. Would not recommend working for this company as it’s such a thankless job.
