Spruce Lodge

The management team are great. Easy to approch, and quick to solve issues. The Nurses and PSWs are kind and respectful, the residents are lovely. 
The workload is heavy and fast paced. Staffing always an issue to be solved. 
Resident centered care, collaborative team work, and friendly working environment. 
The mission and vision are reachable. But sometimes uneasy to reach out the physicians.

Great Long Term Home. Free meal.

Short staffed alot. Fast pace.

Could be better. Long term staff disgruntled about wages & hours.

Busy! Constant fast paced but friendly staff.

i was a student nurse doing my preceptor-ship with this facility.. it was a great learning experience for me to learn about palliative care., and to build my communication skills and knowledge with talking to the patient ad family.  the hardest part about this job would have to be helping the patients pass onto a new life, and being strong for the families when needed.

The hardest part of the job is working short and trying to help PSW with organization and doing your part.  Being primary med nurse there are alot of meds to give and gives you little time if any to accomodate for other issues that arise.

As all ltc there are always staff shortages.  The other employees are great people to work with. The resident care is exceptional and focused on their needs. Fast paced work great if you are a team player. 

Is lovely and fun working at spruce lodge, 
The management understands what talking responsibilities means, they make sure everything works according.  

It was a good place to work at never really to hard as long as you knew what you were doing. Overtime was paid after 8 hours and it felt like management cared

Managers ask for opinions and want solutions, but disregard them.  There is not enough staff, therefore residents and staff suffer. It’s a chaotic work environment with many challenges and changes implemented daily

I have worked at a few and this is so far the best. Very patient friendly and staff is helpful to new workers. The layout if the building can be a bit challenging at first but it becomes easier. I love working in the cottages and the towers.

Not a great place to work, management didn’t care about work/life balance and wouldn’t let you have days off even if you asked a month in advance. Didn’t get paid enough for what the work you had to do. Hours weren’t the greatest.
