This job is not worth it for the money. You are constantly overworked and expected to come in early for work and for after-work events. It is hard to ask for time off, and you have a lot of shifts. In August, you don't know if you're working evenings until soon before.

It is a cult. It isn't a job, and if you don't latch on to the passion that everyone else has, you simply won't enjoy it.

No issues get sent up the chain of command, and HR deals with matters very poorly. 

It doesn't matter how physically fit you are... this job will destroy you. Any underlying conditions? You simply won't make it, and there is little room for accommodations.

It is an environment that fosters unhealthy relationships with the job. You get yelled at by senior officers and constantly told what you have done wrong. Mistakes are not opportunities to learn.

- A typical day is dealing with the very negative and toxic human resource team who love to berate and bully employees & applicants.

- Management does not lead with an ethical lens, and instead choose to utilize an autocratic lens where you "must" do what they say, when they say it.

- You will not be respected and or valued in any role with this employer; they need a true cultural change to understand what diversity in the world actually means and how to encourage 'inclusive' and 'barrier-free' environments instead of erecting barriers for all and treating outsiders as less than and not part of their 'club'.

My co-workers communicate openly and respectfully. They listen attentively to each other's ideas, offer constructive feedback, and engage in discussions to solve problems or make decisions. If I faced some challenges, they readily provided me with assistance. There's no hesitancy to ask for help, and no one is afraid to admit when they don't know something. Also, different teams or departments collaborate seamlessly. They share resources, information, and insights, recognizing that working together yields better results than working in isolation. I strongly recommend this place to work.

Every day was different; you get to change up your work location, work with all of the staff, and interact with new visitors all of the time! You also learn a ton of local historical material in order to share with visitors coming from all around the world. I also improved my customer service and interpersonal skills immensely by working here. Breaks and lunches were a nice social break from the summer heat, and coworkers were always a great support system when there were rough days with customers.

The job is a lot of fun in terms of interpretation, historical weapons, music and learning about the history.
However, the work environment lacks inclusion. You need to be a certain "type" to be respected there. It's not about how passionate you are and how hard you work. It's whether you could do everything perfectly and exactly as asked. Mistakes are treated as deviance and any struggles in learning something new is frowned upon. In the end, as much as I loved the job, you don't always make the cut. It's very discouraging to young students. 

I worked at Riverside Cedar Campground for four summers, and looking back on it now it was the easiest job i ever had. The staff were funny and friendly people, and most of the time the job was very relaxed. The work consisted of basic campground maintenance, and was not at all stressful provided the work was done (which it always was). 
Tasks: Whiper-snipping, cleaning washrooms, picking up garbage and permits, delivering wood and canoes to campsites, and registering campers.

Fort Henry is an absolutely wonderful place of employment that constantly offers a welcoming work environment and always positively pushes its employees to improve themselves. The only noticeable hurdle in my experience is building physical condition to accommodate the job. However, that obstacle is jumped as time goes on for the staff helps consolidate any weak points you may have.

Worked on the West Gate for St.Lawrence Parkway. Customers great, staff amazingly polite. Not back to second year due to still in nursing college for one more month. Rest of old staff let go because computer s being used. Not training them

Demanding in the number of visitors through the village
Yet the time passes quickly

The overall aspect of the job is fun, being able to shoot rifles and cannons. However, you are extremely underpaid for the amount of physical labor and historic knowledge needed. The managers also only gave negative feedback. So, if you are not mentally strong enough to get yelled at and told you are not good enough over and over again, I would avoid.
