Stampede

I worked the ten days at the Stampede doing the parking lots.
I was positioned in one of the main lots smothered in heat everyday and we were forced to wear jeans and a cowboy hat. In what world would a person want to wear jeans a long sleeve shirt and a cowboy hat in the sun with no shade. The people I worked with in the lots were friendly but also faced the same issue. The water carrier was rarely in our area so we were always going thirsty. On the rainy days it was even worse since the weather changes are hard to predict we were not able to dress accordingly. Stuck wearing jeans + shirt + cowboy hat along with already wet garbage bags which were "provided" we simply stood outside all wet and soaked. As the day dragged on our bodies would become itchy and irritated due to the water. On one of these days I quite because a lady working in her ticket booth began ordering us around when we were already doing our job. She began yelling at us and angering people because she couldn't do her job correctly and let the wrong people in. She then blamed us which was ridiculous. Probably one of the worst jobs I have EVER had. Maybe working inside the Stampede or in another lot would have been better since some of the other lots were given umbrellas for shade and had less traffic.

I could have lasted the other 3 days of my ten day work period but this old lady yelling at people like she was the boss when it was obviously her mistake took the cake. I believe 2-3 other people resigned in the days before me due to it not being worth the pay.
I also worked a 12 hour shift so listening to someone yell at me for their own faults was not something I needed at all.

A typical day at work was filled with fun and welcoming interaction with people of different ethnicity. I learned quite a few things from working there for just Stampede season. Such as how to interact with costumers, face conflict confidently and calmly. This job improved my interaction skills verbally and through electronics. My manager was the sweetest person you could ever meet. We had many pleasant conversations about work and personal things. The hardest part of this job was probably finding the location for peoples tickets. There were some system issues we ran into and overcame every time. I think the team I worked with was the most enjoyable part, I got to work with a diverse team of people. Each person bringing their own specialty to our team.

A typical day at work would be to work around 5-6 hours a day 
i learned that working with food you have to know that your giving the food to people who payed for it and don't you so you would want it to be the best it can be, the stampede aloud everyone to come from everywhere to come see what Calgary has to provide .
The hardest part of my job was  when the rush of when the bull rides where beinging and when they where stopping because loads of people where coming in to be served .
The most enjoyable part about working there was to meet new people and make friends with my co workers

-My experience working at the Stampede was fun, except for picking up garbage.
-I worked with a nice group of people, at the end of the 11 days, one of the members started to become agitated while working (due to hot weather, short breaks, etc.)
-I didn't live far away, and got the chance to see the fireworks every night while leaving (afternoon shifts).
-Best moment was the food, and concerts, when shift ends at 9PM, thats the best time of stampede.

-This was my experience at work back in 2015, hopefully I'll get the chance to work there again!

Every day I was working 8-10, standing on a concrete floor with no air conditioning while being surrounded by people who had little to no respect for the workers. However in the 10 days I worked I did make a paycheck that lasted my 3 months, so there is definitely no complaining there. I also formed friendships that will last a lifetime. However the management offended almost everyone I knew who worked there. Overall I have mixed emotions about this job, and to be honest I most likely will never work here again.

The environment of the workplace was very stimulating and fast paced, and I liked that, because it challenged me to exceed at a position like that. It was very multicultural, everyone was really nice. The supervisors were very professional, and managed situated very well.

the enjoyable part working at the calgary stampede was seeing shows iv never seen before.

It is very busy, there's always something to do. 
Learned patience with difficult customers and multitasking. 
Co-workers were people of difference races and fun to work with because they were people around my age 
Hardest part of the job was keeping up with the demand of the customers during peak hours

Amazing place to work and I had a lot of fun during every minute of my work there.every body was really friendly and on task.It felt very free and everybody was supportive. A great place to work,build connections,have fun and represent cultures.

The overall environment was alright considering how busy the tills actually gets. a typical day at work was busy through out the whole day but you get used to the pace. the workers were helpful to show me how things work and my manager showed me what to do as well.
