If you asked me to review working here a year ago this review would be greatly different. However, Start.ca seems to have taken a nosedive in late 2019 that has resulted in a workplace with some of the lowest morale  I have seen. 
Condescending tones are frequent from certain supervisors, and Management can barely function well enough to do the basic fundamentals of their role. Trying to bring up suggestions or issues to Management usually result in a feeling of being gaslight into submission, and usually Management fails to take ownership and places the blame onto their lowest-rung employees when things go horribly wrong (which is frequently).
Decision making from Management, Executives and People and Culture are not well thought out and most changes feel rushed, poorly implemented, and do not take the feelings of the Reps or Techs into consideration.
Company culture has taken a turn for the worst, and a lot of staff feel emotionally checked out to a point where they can only perform the bare minimum of their job functions anymore.
Job duties and responsibilities have at least doubled (if not tripled) in the last 6 months and we have yet to see a pay increase to reflect this. If anything, their decision to switch to Salary has negatively impacted people's income, and this summer quite a few staff were denied their expected 6 month raise until next year.

Most staff who work here for an extended period of time wind up on stress leave, fired, quitting on bad terms, or so fearful of their job security that they have been subdued into silence. It's very rare to see a staff member leave with a positive experience from this employer.

There is no separate training team. Training is a joke here.
Beware of the possiblities of not being trained properly.

Middle management has no knowledge of the day to day technical issues. Only results are looked into but not concerns of the employees.

Heavy micromanagement. The management wants to find mistakes to fire you.

CxG (Customer Experience Group) employees are treated as slaves. No ETAs for resolution of internet issues as the company is heavily relying on technicians being sent out by major Telecoms like Rogers, Bell, and Cogeco. 

Start TV has been one of most troublesome products 

The company doesn't have its own cable technicians. 

Overall they want to just attain results without attending to the concerns of the employees. Even today a lot of the employees are not happy with the processes and the tools being over complex. 

Join this company only if you want to ruin your career.

Overall I enjoyed working at Start.ca,  however I had a horrible experience working in the people & culture department. 

The manager was exactly that, a manager NOT a leader. She lacked all of the necessary components to make an effective leader. From being overly aggressive, dismissive, manipulative and there was a severe lack of empathy. My time in that department caused so much stress that I decided to leave.

 If you work for another department, you will be fine but stay away from working in that department. This manager will promote people based on who she likes instead of the qualifications for the job. The longer you stay in that department, you will start to second guess your ability to do the job. It’s a toxic environment that will continue to be toxic unless she is held accountable for her actions. 

The company preaches inclusivity, diversity, equality, culture and promotion from within, but fail on following through. The leadership team is full of the old boys white club, so decisions are very white washed.
Projects completion is choked because of limiting and outdated infrastructure. Company goals seem intangible as metrics and forecasting are not available.
Executive guidance for planning is non-existent.

Always something to work on and the days went fast

My Manager is very supportive and passionate about growth within Start. I've been here almost two years and enjoy the team work environment. Lots of changes and improvements since I started with very positive outlooks. 
Typical day - help customers resolve issues or set up appointments. Hardest part - disputes or issues not within my department. 
Learned - Internet basics 
Overall - 5 Stars 

Absolutely no job security. The worst 'on the job' training I ever saw. Trainers have no clue how to support and then they expect you to perform the best right off the bat. One hiccup, you are out. Moreover, you will take the blame if there is a system glitch. 
Look someplace else if you wanna be treated as a human.  

The process is not clear and not enough coaching was provided to see if you are improving or not. The only time you will find out is if they fire you when they do they don't give you the chance to review or listen to the so-called calls that were rated bad. 

No support at all from Manager even though on the documentation it is clearly stated that there is a one-to-one every 2 weeks.

There aren't enough nice things I can say about Start.ca. From the owners down to your colleagues on the contact centre floor, people are kind and friendly. To work at Start.ca is to get a new family where you take turns supporting and helping each other.
They are willing to train anyone with the right attitude, and there is room for advancement within the company.

Toxic, cult like, work culture where everyone pretends they don't work in a call center. A lot of false promises and outright lies presented in orientation. No accountability from management, no proper channels for escalation. Managers are overreaching and overbearing, feels like living in a police state.
