Great place to start and get your feet wet if you are looking to get into sales/call centers.

Base wage is $16 an hour which doesnt offer you much in the sense of a paycheck but with their commission structure, it is very much possible to earn a bit more. But don't let the "commission" suck you into this job.

They only have a few months of "busy" season where you can really earn some commissions, and then after that you are at the will of the schedule of the manage. Good luck getting good shifts as the favoritism here is off the charts.

They mention that there is advancement here, but I seen nothing of the sort. They are extremely stuck in their ways and the systems they have in place don't really help you complete your job, but hinder your progress and slow you down.

They fail to tell you that layoffs happen in the winter season due to things being slow, and they hype you up about your earnings but even at this point you need to track EVERYTHING so you can actually make sure your commissions go to you and not someone altering your details.

Over all I give this place a 2 star. Again great starting point to see if this is the kind of work for you, but there are way better job opportunities out there that pay a far better wage/commissionable earnings for your efforts. Management is alright, but clearly have their favorites and don't expect your team to lend you a hand in shift coverage or wanting to help get things done. Very much about the individual and your bookings rather then a team effort to acheive a set goal.

A typical day of a carpet cleaning tech: 
7-7:30 AM - arrive to the shop, get your work orders, make sure your truck is loaded with whatever you need for the day (water tank full, dirty water filter is clean, dirty water tank is empty, all the hoses and  other gear are in place, portable unit - if needed)

- Head out to your jobs. 
- Make sure info on paperwork is correct and estimates are correct with every customer
- Do the jobs, fold back the equipment, and head to the next one.

* You never know what to expect on the job site since the estimates and paperwork are based on what the customers have communicated and since they are not professionals, their estimates are usually wrong.
Therefore, always give yourself enough time for every job -  no matter how small they might be!!!

I have worked at Steam Dry Canada for the last 5 years. Everyday is a little different because you meet new customers. After training you generally work by yourself with an assigned truck and equipment. All the work is already pre-booked so you don't have to worry about finding your own customers, however if you do there is a small bonus in it.

On average you would work between 8-10 hours a day, some are shorter and some are longer. Work is paid by commission, which works out to be around $30-$40/hr some days are worse than others but in the end I am being paid more than any job I have worked before. During the busy season I would work an average of 10 hours and make around $350/day, The highest I have earned in 1 day was back in 2019 and I made $643.

You see all the guys in the morning when you are picking up your work and everyone gets along famously. There hasn't been drama in the Edmonton office since I started.

Great place to work in my one and a half years of service. While the job itself can be slightly repetitive and there is some challenges, it helps you learn quickly how to address different problems. Everyday is something new and it keeps you on your game. The pay itself is great and the commission for up sales just boosts it more. The more you put into it the more it pays off. One of the best perks is, you have a company truck to get you to and from all of your jobs without having to use a personal vehicle to get to the shop in the morning, which saves you time and fuel costs. The office staff are super friendly and helpful and so are the other techs. You are by yourself for most of your jobs but that completely eliminates any workplace drama. Overall pretty happy with my current position and can’t see myself leaving anytime in the future. 

The company is a privately owned business that runs like a Mom and Pop shop. You will be working with very few people unlike big companies out there. You have the opportunity to make commissions. 

The new management of SteamDry is definitely a lot better than the previous one. The only issue is the new people the previous manager hired - They created drama and made the work environment very toxic. When they left, everything works perfectly.

The CEO is very understanding and supportive. When he started to oversee the business, everything went smoothly. 


Working at Steam Dry was one of the worst work experiences I’ve had. Management was disorganized, communication was poor, and employees were often expected to handle unrealistic workloads with very little support. The pay didn’t match the amount of work being demanded, and there was little appreciation for hard-working staff. Scheduling was inconsistent, and concerns brought up by employees were usually ignored instead of addressed professionally. Overall, the work environment felt stressful and undervalued. I wouldn’t recommend working here unless major changes are made to how employees are treated.

They treat you like a machine. All signage is incorrect and they refuse to honor prices. 
You get 4 hour training. 
Management is a joke. Unprofessional and doesn't follow the law. 
Unorganized and has no HR system. 
No job security. And if you still up for yourself they will fire you. 
They call you on days off and you have to use your personal phone for work. 
They also track your location threw personal phone.

Everything is commission based. No paid time for driving They're vehicles to get oil changes, to get serviced, or even driving back to the office to drop the vans off. Theres 2-4 hours of drive time daily. The company is structured terribly to the point morale is almost non existent. The schedule was a problem, for example. Doing a job in Richmond to travel to abbotsford for another job to drive back to Burnaby to do another job. All of that driving is unpaid! 

Firstly:
There is no room for advancement. There are no positions you can advance to.
Secondly:
Almost  minimum wage, you do get commission on upselling $4 per upsell (not that common)
Thirdly:
Your quality as a person is defined by how many leads you can hoard to yourself. 
Fourthly:
There is only teamwork when they don't want to work.
When the managers leaves at 4pm whoever is working later will take longer breaks and literally do nothing for the duration of the remaining shift.

The company's management is very poor. The supervisors and managers are very disrespectful. On the very first day, one can be assured 1000% of job insecurity. No training for the products and sales skills. Treat managers as gods to sustain in this company otherwise, you are fired disrespectfully like you are a street dog. Overall, my experience are beyond worst.
