We just st ratified our first collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters and it's not a very beneficial CBA.
We have recently been bought by Waste Management so we don't know what is going to happen with the East York/Toronto location. There are rumours that we might be moved to Mississauga or Brampton but this has not been confirmed. Bottom line...one huge U S company just bought a huge but smaller U S company.
The crew of 15 drivers are not a happy crew. There is a lot of back stabbing, favouritism by management and infighting because you cannot trust the dispatcher or managers to be fair with route scheduling.
Your every move is monitored by gps and in cab cameras.
Training is constant...daily, weekly and monthly.
High turnover of new drivers because of favouritism with routes. New drivers can expect to get the toughest routes to make the more senior and "favoured" guys jobs easier. So, there is not much moral integrity even though many are "devoutees" to religion. 
Expect to do "purges" which is very physical, often requiring you to use a four wheel dolly to remove hundreds of bankers boxes from basements or office towers. Injuries are common occurrences that require the WSIB to become involved. I've seen situations where  4 guys are injured at the same time. That's not mentioning the guys that complain to each other about muscle pains and aches but are afraid to file a formal injury report.
I've seen many, many, many drivers come and go so make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.




Spending nearly 6 years in Transportation Management, I would have to say the corporation has allowed me to grow into a better stronger manger. However, the Corporate America mentality is to push until you break, then find another person to push. In recent years, I was first hired to be the Trans Supervisor, then it turned out to be the Trans Man. as I was completing larger responsibilities. Added to the  role was H&S Champion, then H&S Coordinator, Corporate Trainer, Driver Trainer, and CO - Ops manager. All of these duties without any additional compensation. When I asked for help, I was told there was no money to provide me an assistant. Did they break me...yes, but at the same time I learned valuable things about myself, one being, when to say NO! If you take on more responsibilities at work, great, you are a team player, BUT, BEFORE YOU DO SO, sit down with your manager and set a specific deadline when the role is to be reviewed, and if you should want to continue, certain conditions need to be met like a new job description and salary expectations. Without setting these parameters, the new work load will be OWNED by you. 

Over all I have nothing bad to say about Stericycle. I/we have had our challenges, but overall a good company to work for. 

This company is a joke! they hire people but are out of the budget, how that's it works? Management is awful!, I was hired and I didn't receive any payment after 1 month and a half! and no one knew it the reason why I haven't been paid!

The supervisors are fairly good, however, one of them, he thinks he is working in a National Security office or C.I.A. or F.B.I. treating the people as slaves and making comments about accents, pronunciation and so on. I don't really recommend this company is so messy, in 11 months of full-time job the pest control went there 3 times because of the bed bugs!

The headsets are shared and 99% of them are broken! the company has no interest to get new ones! Managers are also not good enough, a few of them cut hours for no reason and going on vacation or holidays every 3 or 4 months, but if you ask for vacations, they fired you.

No way to go to the washroom, all of them are so dirty, and every second it will be discounted from your payments!

No HR office in Winnipeg location, which makes more difficult the contact for certificates or any other inquiry. salary is kinda good, benefits are fair, and all the people from the 4th floors they think they are gods or goddess! I HIGHLY NO RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!

Overall Stericycle was a great place to work at. The co-workers were incredibly friendly, helpful and most of all we all worked as a team. I would have to say this was the most enjoyable part of my job. 

A typical day at Stericycle involved balance and edit of all driver routes from the day/night before. Once all information was cross referenced and balanced the Manifests were than filled out with the correct weight of the waste, separated and mailed out. Hundreds of these manifests were completed each day and a grand total of an estimated 3000 manifests per month.

The hardest part of this job would be time management. If one person was off than this could create a lag in performance for the team. However, that being said, the team and myself worked extremely hard to meet all our daily deadlines. 

My manager was an exceptional lady. She was hardworking, a great mentor and supporter. She was always willing to step in and lend a hand when one of our team members were off sick. Furthermore, she taught me a lot about myself as a professional and always was supportive when needed.

If you get hired to do customer service, don't expect any promotions or pay increases unless the management likes you.  Some of the management think you're nothing but a machine that takes calls, and will write you up if you do one little thing incorrectly.  Additionally, attendance is based purely on a point system.  Doesn't matter if you get a cold or into a car accident, once you get enough 'points' you're out the door.  The company also refuses to upgrade any of the systems and computers we use on the floor, so I hope you enjoy working with computers from 2006.

The employees however, are very colorful and interesting people, you will enjoy working with them as everyone gets along and supports one another.  If you're decent at your job you will get fulltime or near-fulltime, and the benefits are pretty good for the position.  Soft-skills such as communication and multitasking will be put to the test and heavily improved as you work here.

If you have something better lined up, please consider taking that over this company.  But if you don't, it isn't the worst company to work for.

Started when the Company was Shred-it and it was a good place to work.
Stericycle bought it and started making changes, which I will admit, were good in the beggining ( new trucks and equipment ). As a dispatcher, the new software was a joke, my managers at the second branch I worked at after moving never sent my disability paperwork to HR and I was subsequently let go do to issues with my disability.

Don't trust managment, the senior guys getting favorable routes is not to make their days easier either, it is because they know the routes they are given and have built relationships with their customers. Thats why I kept them on certian routes.

When the corporate team came from UPS and tried to run the company like it was UPS, thats when the major problems started.

I am glad waste managment has bought the company, maybe they will run it better and maybe I get offered my job back.

I recently worked as a driver for the Port Coquitlam, B.C. branch.  While my local branch manager was great, head office lets the entire organisation down.

Twice they managed to mess up my pay & not get it into my bank account due to their own errors.  Most functions of head office seem to be either outsourced or run on an automated system, which usually fails.  When I did get to speak to a Human Being, I was told and I quote "we will not run a payroll just for you".  I was told I would have to wait until the following pay period, which put me past the date of my required rent payment.  When I pointed this out to head office, they could not care less.

The problem is that so many functions have been taken away from the local branch managers, that in many ways their hands are tied by the constraints of head office.  In this case, the company is so large that head office often has no clue what is happening at local branches and seems not to care.

A typical day at work would be preparing your self and to manage the tasks that are given.,and having in mind the safety of others when preforming your job.,I also learned how to be responsible,reliable and independent,and treat others with respect.co workers were my second family due to the time that I had to spend with them at work. I treated everyone with respect so that I could get the same in return,happy as I was with all do to the communication work related.,the hardest part of work was making sure the by the end of the day all the work was completed with out having any accidents or injuries to anybody and handing all paper work with the right info.,the best part of the job was being able to travel and meeting new people and interact with them and making sure that they were happy with there service and that for me was a great deal to hear that feed back that you get from the customer.

Purely incoming/inbound call from clients. You are waiting for a phone call from clients to come in and assist them as the script goes. If it was a slow day they will ask you to leave after 4 hours of work and pay was just minimum. Management was friendly but does not give you work security or workplace culture has a sense of segregation. The hardest part of the job was when all calls comes in all at the same time, which is beyond our control. There was not much communication between staff and management which was sometimes discouraging. The enjoyable part was being able to help all the customers calling and making them happy and able to resolve all their concerns.

A typical day at work , in the morning load and unload trucks , organize warehouse , work as a team to make work more efficient .

I learned that working with bio medical waste is good job , and gives you awareness on how much disease is out in the world .

The management was excellent , any question that I had about the company , or warehouse duties were answered in full , and ion detail.

My co-workers were also great as everyone worked as a team , which made the every ones job more enjoyable .

The hardest part of the job was dealing with bio medical spills , and accident in the warehouse , and acting accordingly , which was also a learning process

The most enjoyable part of the job was learning about , bio medical waste , were it goes for disposal , and the process of disposal.
