Steves Music Store

I worked at Steve’s for 4 years. It was a fun environment to be in and coworkers/customers were great to be around, however the management is very cheap and quite often below board with the pay. They’ll try to nickel and dime you while paying you minimum wage. Vacation, commission, and overtime pay has been late in the past and you’ll have to fight for it sometimes. Higher management doesn’t care about employees who haven’t been there for 10+ years and will treat them like they are an expendable and cost cutting resource rather than real people. The day to day life at Steve’s is fun and rewarding, but the company overall has little to no respect for employees.

Good for a starting, minimum wage job. Owners don't care to invest in their people aside from same figures of management who have been there forever. Some employees have been there for decades and have not much to show for it. Opportunity is there to make commission if you work in sales, depending on how business is doing. You have to keep yourself busy when it's quiet (instruments everywhere is always a plus). Highly recommend if you're looking to start working and have a passion for music. You'll learn a lot there.

This is a fun place to work at if you love music in general.  You can have some pretty flexible hours (which is sometimes necessary if you're also a musician, which most people working at the store are). However, you won't be able to advance both management-wise and pay-wise; you will probably never become a manager and the only way you'll get a raise is when the government imposes a minimum wage augmentation. Some managers try to give nicer discounts to the employees because of this. In all, a fun place to work at with great colleagues if you don't mind working minimum wage.

Our work day there was making purchase orders for clients that were ordering intruments.Do the inventory in the 3 stores that they had. I learned how to make purchase orders and i learned about intrusments. The co-workers were okay had a good relationship with them. The hardest thing about this job was the brother's boss, he was always in a bad mood and screamed at us the employes no respect.

Steve's gave me my start in the industry and a chance to meet musicians and learn about music. But it was never a place I wanted to stay long. Most people work there end up staying there for life. I wanted to grow, see the world and enjoy life. This job was for me when I was 18. When I hit 23, I left.

This was a great place to work and I certainly learned a lot. My department took care of all national online sales and we prospered. The staff and managers are all into the same things so getting along with peers was incredibly easy.

Working at Steve's Music store was a great opportunity for me. IT was my first serious job and taught me a lot about sales. Whether it be costumer relations or product care, it helped me become a better salesman and offered me experiences I will never forget.

A much more laid back job place. It is very family oriented. I learned a lot during my time there. Met many people and made a lot of new friends.

Great company to work for! The culture is amazing and management couldn't be more supportive and friendly. Most enjoyable part of the job is the staff, because everyone is so welcoming and they make you feel like part of the family right away!

Steve's is not a landmark for canadian musician without a reason... no other music store can compare to Steve's ! If they don't have it, you don't need it moto is still relevant after 45 years...
