The most important aspect of this job is the safety of the children I transport to and from school. It is important that they stay in their seats and maintain a relatively low level of noise to ensure that I can concentrate on driving . The next thing that is important is the embarking and disembarking the bus in a safe and timely manner.
I am in constant communication by 2 way radio with dispatch in order to convey any issues or concerns during my daily trips.
This job requires your total focus on the road and safety for the passengers a mistake can be costly in terms of life and equipment.
There is a lot of responsibility that comes with this job.
I have learned to take my time and focus on the driving and to "be safety first" in all sorts of weather conditions along with developing positive relationships with all concerned management, school management, parents and teachers.
There are times when things don't go as planned and I have learned to remain as positive as possible about the situation.
Management is good in this regard also as they stand behind their drivers in circumstances that are beyond their control, and they do support us in a positive manner with bonuses, meetings etc.
I find driving sometimes when the children are hyped and very noisy along with moving around the bus while in motion while I am driving the toughest part of the job. Dividing my attention from the road to ensure their safety with a high noise level is tough at times. 
I enjoy the end of the day after I park that I have safely transported my charges back and forth to their destinations.

This company's hiring practices, at least at the local level, are unethical. They will tell you whatever it is they think you want to hear in order to get you in the door, regardless of the damage it does to your career. 

I was recently invited to interview for a position that, unbeknownst to me, I was deemed to be unqualified for. Management was extremely indirect about this and led me on, so to speak. Throughout the process, I had made it clear to both interviewing managers that I would not be coming over to do anything less than what we were discussing (as I was already doing it elsewhere). Both supervisors made it sound like I had the job I was applying for. The first major red flag was the fact that the description of the job kept changing every time I spoke to the original manager, though they were unwilling to spell it out and I summarized their inconsistency as something benign. It wasn't.

Only after I had given my previous company my two weeks notice did the original manager reach out  (3 days later) to specify in black and white that I would be exclusively confined to my previous duties and that the role I believed I was getting had been filled; those were not the terms I agreed to. I was manipulated by this company and my career has been harmed by my taking their words at face value. 

EDIT: In a final act of childish spite, after informing the hiring manager that I would NOT take any driving position, they pulled a “you can't quit because you're fired.” I will never so long as I live forget what I went through with Stock / National and I will always advocate against working for them. Take note. They are the model example of how NOT to run a company.

It was a great environment although we mostly communicated or hear each other through the radio, but people were very polite, management very understanding a wonderful place. I could stay longer because I had moved to a further away city and couldn't continue. I felt really welcomed all the time.
Typical day is in the morning I would safety check the bus completely out and in. Turned on the radio  "Good Morning" to dispatch state my route number and clock myself in. Started my route and the end of the morning go home Clock out with dispatch,  do my personal stuff and around 2:00pm clock in with dispatch and head out to my afternoon run, came back home clocked out and had the rest of the afternoon with my family.
I learned that patience play a big role on driving and communicating if it is with the kids or with dispatch. But again co-workers and the kids I had on board with me everyday they were AWSOME. Never had to complain. I don't remember any hard part right now mostly because I loved what I was doing I LOVED It. I had great communication with some parents when they were there to drop off or pick up there kids and that help me even more on how to speak with their child. Enjoyable part was everything seriously, I had my kids with me, also working with other kids and iterating with them was wonderful.

If everyone involved (Office staff, Drivers, School board, Teachers and PARENTS) could get on the same page and realize that we all have the same big picture goal ( Get kids to and from school safely ) everything would go a lot smoother for everyone. We all are not out to get each other and make each others lives harder but for some reason that's how it rolls out. 
Parents need to STOP abusing the staff at Stock Transportation! While I worked there I answered multiple phone calls and emails where parents would tell us office staff and drivers to kill ourselves. How is that ANY way to speak to people who are transporting your children?! Get off your high horse and throw that sense of entitlement in the trash. We are all equal and we are a TEAM! 

EVERYONE just needs to take a step back and have a little common sense and compassion.

There are some really incredible people who work tirelessly at Stock everyday trying to make a difference for the children in the community. If you're a parent who wants to make a difference in the community I encourage you to become a driver or an assistant with Stock transportation to help create the positive shift in the community that the KIDS need and deserve.

I drove School Bus almost 40 years ago for extra income while in trade College. As it turned out the license I obtained gave me a better career , 30 years worth than the College course. I have been retired now for 7 years by have taken part time jobs over the years. This year I decided to go drive a School Bus as they always seem to be short of drivers. The team at Stock in N.Bay is amazing! SAFETY is the top priority all the managers I’ve met are extremely positive and communicate well, they are patient and courteous. There are more reasons to drive a School bus than just the pay it’s a way to get experience or in my case keep up my driving skills with larger vehicles, you get to feel you’re doing something important by safely boarding, carrying and unloading children at their School and back home. The pay is fair for the time you’re working in my opinion. If you’re going to drive a School bus I would highly recommend Stock in N.Bay they seem to have quite a few drivers who have been there a long time so they must be treating them good! They will take the time to train you even if you haven’t driven a School us before. My wife is being trained there now and she is very happy with the way they let her learn at her pace . 



I worked at Stock Transportation for 5 years. While the company does offer competitive pay and benefits, my experience was marred by several issues.

One major concern was the lack of transparency and fairness in management's decision-making processes. Important information was often withheld or communicated at the last minute, making it difficult to plan and prepare.

Additionally, I found the company's policies and procedures to be somewhat sneaky, with unexpected changes or surprises that could impact employees' work or benefits.

On a positive note, the benefits package was good, and some of my colleagues were pleasant to work with. The company's commitment to safety was also commendable.

However, the lack of transparency and fairness ultimately led to my decision to leave the company.

Overall, I would caution potential employees to carefully consider the company culture and management style before joining. While the pay and benefits may be competitive, the lack of transparency and fairness may outweigh the benefits.

Pay and Hours are the main concerns as there are not enough hours to work, pay is insufficient especially for new and spare drivers. There are hardly to no benefits. 
There are very many cutbacks and management is not very good as there aren't enough hours for the few office staff to sufficiently organize bus routing leaving many drivers confused as to proper stops and many safety issues arise from this.

But driving for Stock has many benefits personally as well, such as being able to meet many children, learning many new routes and schools, as well as drivers being there for each other as a whole. Learning to drive a school bus is included upon acceptance of resume and paid for by Stock. Also, after a couple of years, the opportunity to join the union comes up which gives the benefit of added hours such as first choice of field trips and shuttling. There are also positions of office work and or cleaning to fill in the hours if you so choose.  

One added benefit is that you are able to park the bus at home which makes it easy to get up in the morning to pretrip and start your run from there.

For a young and growing company, Stock Transportation surpassed my expectations ever since I started working with them.  Management is open to suggestions and to communication.  They accomodate driver's needs the best they can, therefore I never had to question my ability to work.  The company takes pride in providing great service to maintain busses and property.  I always felt confident jumping into the driver's seat each and every morning knowing that the bus will start and will run in excellent condition.  Safety is very important to the company which cannot be underestimated.  The monthly safety meetings were informative and reassuring at the same time.  The hardest part of my job was child management on the bus.  Both the school board and Stock Transportation was very supportive with any issues I might have encountered.  Stock Transportation has a family feel amongst the office staff, and there is always a smile or a friendly greeting to make me feel welcomed.

The first day I walked in for an interview, all the office staff were gossiping about drivers. Not a good first impression. 
The social club hosts fun events. 
The drivers are definitely taken advantage of. They don't tell you exactly how you get paid, they just make sure you know how to tell them what to document for your hours. Most companies will pay as soon as you start the bus and will end when you turn off your bus. Stock has "Dead head time".  A new driver left within a few months of starting to relocate closer to their home. They offered no alternatives when they put in their notice.... until the last day they returned her keys. Suddenly they had a solution.

 The training is unpaid (they say this from the start), even after you're hired. Many drivers are working multiple routes. Drivers are expected to maintain an open line of communication but i don't think they return the same expectation.

Best part is that they are leaving Canada?
they have lost contracts in many places,    SHOULD you decide to work with them or for them  MAKE very sure you Keep close Eyes on your PAY check,, as they tend to not pay as they should,also NEVER use your Credit Card for them, as they NEVER pay you back Completely .

All of it. they try best to pay least and NEVER do as they Say They Will DO

Very Greedy, Sometimes they used to Give Parties or Decent Rewards ,but around have way mark of service they got Cheaper with Give aways

Driving Lots of Driving,also doing other driver runs as they seemed not to show up
