As a General Forman I am responsible for all aspects of the job. Scheduling of manpower and materials on a daily basis as well as site specific safety protocols. I deal directly with the clients and subtrades on multiple jobs simultaneously. With a background in carpentry I work hands on with my team and find myself doing a variety of tasks. The company has sent me for various training from supervisor training, leadership training, first aid cpr and upgrades to working at hieghts and others. I have worked hard to gain the trust and respect from my PM and office management which has been rewarded with thanks and gratitude. Bonuses are given based on job performance and I believe that I'm doing a great job from the bonuses I've received. The only downfall is that some jobs can be a bit demanding or you find yourself outdoors in a variety of weather which is common in ICI construction. Overall I enjoy working here and have a good work life balance. 

I have been working with Stolk for a year and a half. There are many committed people working here that motivate me to do more and not take my foot off the gas. I have been listened to and given responsibility where I have shown drive and directly asked for it. I feel appreciated, that my position is important, and that it always has the opportunity to evolve. Lots of friendly faces as well!

The owner strikes me as being driven to change his company for the better and is bringing new people on with a focus in retention efforts and strategic development which is changing the dynamic of the environment in a better direction every day. 

I'm never sitting around doing nothing, always learning and given mentoring when I ask, and management is striving for improvement.

Overall a great place to work.

I've been a construction estimator at Stolk Construction for only under a year now, however, I feel like it's good practice to recognize good employers.

A typical day at work is not unlike any other construction company. Fast paced, dealing with sometimes complex problems, working against tight deadlines.

The president's leadership fosters a positive atmosphere, emphasizing open communication and professional development. 

The collaborative spirit among management and colleagues is exceptional, contributing to the success of each project. Your opinion actually matters here and management does a great job of listening.

There is a clear path for career advancement and they invest in employees' growth through various training programs. 

The workplace culture is very positive; this is evident through the company's commitment to recognizing and appreciating its workforce through recognition and extracurricular events.

Horrible place to work unless you want to regress and learn everything not to do in the construction industry. Building codes are ignored, they play dumb and put blame on other subcontractors when they make big mistakes that cause further damages to the structures they’re supposed to be improving. Costs customers thousands of dollars needlessly. They hire actual tradesmen who are capable of delivering a professional finish product but never allow those individuals to do what they do best.

In this progressive ICI construction company I was responsible for the execution of schedules. 
        I was the onsite project coordinator responsible to document the activity,  manage the change and monitor the health and safety of the sites for Stolk. 
       This position took me across southern Ontario doing projects for an international commercial food service corporation. Working with the team at Stolk raised my level of competitive customer service, quality and on-time delivery of a projects completion.

Working at Stolk is great. There is lots of variety in the work we do which makes everyday different. The pay is good and they have benefits. There is a new management team that seems to care about the people. Its a  great group of people which makes work fun.

Foremen are amazing. Learned a lot from them, and they are always willing to teach you and exceed your limits. Project managers and management is different story. 


Was a good job overall. Loved going all over and being around the region. Stolk is a good place to build or require hands on skills with a variety of tools, and tasks in favour for real in life experience and skills. 

This was one of the worst experiences of my life, the management here is so badly manageable and hostile, it was difficult and confrontational every day. Terrible work environment. Would not recommend
