A typical day at this job was very very busy. Dealing with multiple physicians' needs as well as the residents who work with them was challenging. Our foremost priority was our patients. Making sure that they were accomodated as quickly and as easily as possible was our top goal.

The job was separated into 3 sections, Registration, Booking, and Clinic Preparation. There were 3 of us who rotated on a monthly basis. The hardest part of the job was knowing that some of the patients were terminal. This was particularly difficult for me to deal with. The most joyous part of the job was when a child came in and just wanted a big hug. I loved the smiles, hugs and seeing the kids everyday.

Very unwelcoming when I started. Very stressful - the doctor I worked for expected me to work overtime, which I didn’t have any problem with. Managers, however, forbid being there after my shift due to insurance issues. Always between a rock and a hard place. Doctor was verbally abusive to all staff all the time. Although I had a contract to work dayshifts - it was changed to working days/afternoon s and nights.  The doctor threatened me daily. The staff were cut throat about hours. It was an incredibly toxic workplace and I finally left on disability

12 hour shifts, days/nights rotation

Caring for babies in intensive care. Learned about various cardiac, respiratory and gastrointestinal anomalies. Managed fairly well considering the intensity of the unit and the turn over of young staff. I love the people I work with on the unit.

Very busy fast paced environment. The work is quite rewarding. We have a fantastic team and are all very passionate about what we do. Overall I rate the Stollery as a great place to work.

I found my practicum experience was very helpful and made me grow as a person. Being put under high stress situations can make or break you. For me it made me and helped me realize what i am capable of.

The training is amazing, you feel safe going into the floor. On the floor and in class learning helps with confidence once you are working with patients. The educators are very friendly and approachable.

The Stollery is a great place to work. You feel like everyone you work with has your back. Very comfortable. Very friendly nurses and physicians. I would recommend it to anyone.
