Very disappointing treatment of workers, promises made to encourage contribution/employment but followed up by mismanagement of wages (paid for 10 of the 12 hours you are expected to be present on-site -2 x 1 hour travel to and from - and no night shift differential or choice offered), position of employment, hired for on-going administration position and utilized for labourer shortages (had other short-term administration positions available that paid better but promises of extended contract made the decision); treated with disrespect and as just a number from Head Office to Site Management and Site Supervision adheres to policies to maintain their job status.  Out of Province workers work for peanuts and held hostage until their 60 day commitment is met or they pay for their own return and their arrival airfares; miss even 1 day (even in 5 months) and you miss out on the completion bonus - they'd rather you show up and infect everyone - and you don't get your LOA for the day ($100) - ridiculous for good workers and those that miss often (partyers) are not disciplined and don't care about the bonuses or LOA...  and walk right back into their regular rotation with no regard for the worker that had an opportunity to get out of the 'wash bay'.. don't get me started on that 'slave labour' 'on-site oil and gas work experience' opportunity promised to the out of province workers and why the 'local job pools' have no interest in 'working there ever again'... Disappointing 'Alberta O and G Company' experience riding on the good reputation of other respectable companies out there.

I would start my day expediting vendors to ensure parts are going to arrive on time.  I would then go out into the shop to collect work orders and Goods Receipts.  This was my favorite part of the day as it gave me a chance to talk with shop employees to get to know more about the products and how they worked.

Next I would close the work orders using SAP, then put them aside for filing.  I would take the Goods Receipts and check them to see if there were QA documents required or if there were parts that needed to go out into the shop for further manufacturing.

I would check any QA documents for accuracy then stamp my approval on them.  They would then be filed.  Ones that needed further manufacturing would be issued into SAP and the work order taken out to the shop.  All other Goods Receipts would  be sent to the accounting department.

Some jobs would require History Dockets to be included with the shipment.  I would assemble them by collecting all the required QA documents for that job, creating a cover page and table of contents for each section.  They would then be photocopied and scanned.  I would then take the photocopy to the shipping department.

The hardest part of the job was knowing how to prioritize when every aspect of the job was put as a top priority for the day.

struggled here for a short period of time  asking for training on specialized processes at least every second day, looked for support from peers who were overworked and uninterested to help, often felt like an outsider despite attempts to volunteer my time and efforts for the company good. i knew 2 weeks after starting here that it was not going to work out but hung on regardless because i wanted to make a solid effort at success. my predecessor left for the same reason, i only found out after my departure. they paid well but expected a lot from the poor training and support that was offered. most of the people were nice but there were a couple toxic people who undermined my efforts and made me feel worthless, this  made my exit a blessing.

The company gives a freehand to work on the objectives one has set for oneself and agreed with the management

very good cooperative, respectful mult-iculture prevails in the company

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
the day starts at 8am or little earlier if the clients call from other time zones. I used to work on the targets I had set for myself. I sought help from my Manager , if I got stuck anywhere , else used to work independently. The timings were flexible for my role and I enjoyed it

My current review on the company Sulzer Chemtech has been a pleasurable experience ever since the moment I walked into the door and meet my boss and fortunately enough my own father, who has been in the business for multiple years prior. Friendly co - workers made every day working a breeze at my younger age, as getting along with people was extremely nerve racking at the time.

Unprofessional, poor management, no training, no leadership
Foul language used in emails from upper management
Upper management is only concerned with themselves
Can't and won't deliver on promises, to both employees and customers
Back-stabbing and talking behind the backs of employees
Poor capabilities, negative attitudes
Management always changing territories without any discussions
Plenty of turnover in all areas,

Good work, interesting parts, and a lot of over time. 

Shop Leadership is unprofessional. Both the manager and the foreman will talk about your mistakes or their grievances with you to everyone like teenage girls but won't say it to your face. They also protect their friends and don't care about worker safety. In general there is a lot of gossip in the shop. 

Terrible bosses, and an incompetent project management team.
All take and no give, they treat their employees like trash, and expect the world.
If it wasnt for the OEM warranty work and the like, they would be in big trouble.
As it is, they screw up most of the jobs they take on.
Their field service is laughable, and most of their customers are quickly learning to stay away.

Great place to work, given ample room to exercise your skills. challenging work with many rewarding experiences.
excellent bunch of people to work with from the shop floor all the way to the top. 
very good at showing appreciation for all the employees, eg bbq lunches and pizza.
easy and reasonable in dealing with HR/upper management

Mostly shift work, the hardest part of the job was working for shutdowns and sharing a hotel room with another person.  The most interesting part of this job was learning how different companies operate simultaneously and how the safety culture was conducted on site.
