Great place to work, great staff and generally a very positive environment.  The days are busy but the variety of skills required for my position does not allow for any boredom or lack of multi tasking.  I enjoy my job even on the most difficult days.  

The most difficult part of the job is when the union rules do not always allow the person with the best qualifications to be awarded the job they applied for.  Seniority means nothing if the person does not have the skill set for the job.  The hiring criteria is a scoring system and just because you score high does not mean you are the best candidate for the job.  I would not have returned to Sunnyside again if I did not think they were the best employer.

I love the residents I care for but management does not follow union agreed contracts and awards new opportunities to the people they want to instead of following the agreed union contract, they are not flexible with time off, and they deman staff to complete more tasks in the time they have then the can actually be accoplished. When staff complain about the work load and ask for assistance, management states that the staff are poor time managers. Not a healthy work environtment, too many administration heads making too many rules and not enough staff to complete the tasks requested. 

Sunnyside home is part of Waterloo Region therefore there are a lot of opportunities within the company. They focus on quality care and innovation. New ideas are welcome however, in a large company, change takes some time. There are a lot of meetings which can be good and bad. There is a lot of resources to support both quality work and home life. Overall I had a positive work experience.

I absolutely love working here. The staff are incredible. I like the balance as for me, I am part time. U can give your availability and they are understanding, there are always shifts if you need more work. Never a problem here..feel blessed!!!

They have higher standards also for care and have the best equipment for residents, allowing us to safely perform our jobs.
The pay is excellent also.

everyone at sunnyside is really nice and make it a great environment to work in. the only down side is that the scheduling team doesn't let you know if they added tyou to a shift or have taken a shift away. so you are alway having to call them and check what your schedule is going to be. sometimes you go into work a shift and get there and find out that the shift has been taken away.

The entire experience provided me with the tools I would use for the duration of my career. The challenges gave me the confidence when I graduated to continually challenge myself and provided me with many lasting memories.

Very toxic work culture, never approved time off, overworked,managers are incompetent and take alot of time off ,if you want a company that stands beside you and behind you well this is not the company for you
