Sunrise Village

I have thoroughly enjoyed working at Sunrise Village. The staff are vary friendly and well mannered as well as the residents. On a typical day depending on which shift, i am either housekeeping or baking. Housekeeping we would have about 23 rooms per day Tuesday through Friday Mondays being my laundry day as well as the common areas. The supervisors and administrator are vary fair and down to earth and tries to make sure we are using our time efficiently and effectively. Working in the kitchen is great fun and high paced as i am the cooks helper and baker. The hardest part of my job on both shifts would be making sure i get everything done on time. There is always something to do. If i have learned anything from this job it would be patients, empathy, time management, and multitasking.

Good and friendly co-workers. Management from the current General Manager is the main problem there with no leadership. Very poor management skills and decision making. Communication and follow up with clinical team is practically non existant. Poor team work and supervision in nursing side. Many new staff don't stay long so staffing levels are low. An uncomfortable relationship with Aberta Health Services and poor support of the clinical team from the facility  means that best practice care is suffering. Staff are expected by the general manager to put in long hours and get no overtime pay. Miss the nice residents and co-workers but otherwise glad to be gone.

management was not helpful at all, they were always too busy to solve complaints from staff about the residents. when problems were brought up to the management nothing eever changed nor did they make much of an effort to change things. i often felt like residents were being abused by lack of campasion and care and willingness to change from staff and management. over do not suggest this as a good place to work other than the residents were lovely and some coworkers that did their jobs fully were good to work with

Getting very thing ready for breakfast, serving the residents their food, cerel then the main meal. After everybody is gone we pick up the dirty dishes then wash them. Making snacks for the residents to eat whenever they want them. Making the dinner room ready for lunch such as setting the tables, drinks, coffees, teas, butters and creamers. Serve the residents salad then their main meal then dessert. After everybody is done we pick up the dishes and wash the tables, put everything away then finish the day.

The shifts were structured and busy, time management was necessary and when the supervisor was present the routines went smoothly.
Due to a transfer of management the moral faltered, staff left which created a dire shortage of workers. 
The work was rewarding in itself, the difficulties with grocery orders arriving late and staff quitting were overcome as a team, when the supervisor was present.

My stay in Sunrise Village was a productive and enjoyable one, Ive worked with them with a very harmonious relationship. The most enjoyable part of my job was working with my collegues and learning from them too. It was also exciting and challenging for me to serve a residents who is sometimes grumpy in ordering his/her food but still I can handle it to the best of my ability.

My experience working at sunrise village was one of the most wonderful time I’ve ever experienced.  Working there the manager and the staff was enjoyable, the residence were a pleasure to be around. Serving the residence was a enjoyable time for  me because we talked,Laughed, and joked around among each other.

Sunrise village is a very enjoyable place to work. The staff is very friendly which makes the work environment an easy one to work in. While working it is nice that you get to hear stories from the individuals that are living in the assisted living home. Hearing some of the stories from the residence help you to learn more about your job and about yourself.

I like working at Seasons Olds. Like the staff and especially the residents. It's a good place to work not too stressful. The staff are friendly and the residents are always happy to see me.

Health care aide provide personal need and assistance and support elderly,disabled acute and chronically ill people who require short term assistance or on going support.
