This is an unpaid voluntary position.

• Traffic Safety and Speed Watch Program – Program Coordinator
o Volunteer of the year for 2010
o Recruiting, managing and training new volunteers
o Using traffic radar to monitor speeds in school/park zones, as well as high accident areas
o Partnership with ICBC and RCMP
• Crime Watch Patrol
o Distinguished service award winner.
o Acting as eyes and ears for the RCMP, patrolling local crime hot spots
o Checking for stolen vehicles
o Assisting emergency services by directing traffic at vehicle incidents, crime scenes etc.
o Assisting at various community events such as Santa Clause Parade, 24 Hour Relay for Life, Paws for a Cause etc.
o Attending various workshops

Love volunteering for SCPS. I learn new things and how to help keep the citizens and this community safe.
We do road watches with the RCMP making sure nobody is speeding near school zones.

report any suspicious behaviour.

there are many volunteering programs which vary that you can see on their website. You get to meet new people a lot of the time. Great place to make connections and learn more about getting into law enforcement if interested.

•	Independently work on assigned projects.
•	Editing & revising training manuals through Microsoft Office. 
•	Build & maintain databases.
•	Developed excellent communication skills (verbal, written, & social media).

Overall very fun, energetic, enthusiastic. Everyone is very friendly, want to make everyone do better, want to do better themselves. Always appreciate the work we do, and want to make sure if we need help they provide it.

Walked around reporting crimes to the police, only 2 hours per week. Management was strict however were very helpful and encouraging. Everyone was very nice and friendly.

Very friendly environment to work. People are very supportive each others. You get to know your community and work with ICBC and RCMP and City of Surrey.

everyone shows a lot of will and potential when they show up to do volunteering at their given time because it isn't like any of us are getting any money out of this we do it because we choose to.

Conducting community-based safety programs for the City of Surrey is fun and rewarding! Lot of opportunities to interact with the public and law enforcement agencies.
