A typical day at work was to maintain all components of a building envelope,ie;check all machines and do repairs as needed.Change air filters,oil all motors on AHU's@water,recirculating pumps.Keep pool and hot tub at proper chlorine and ph levels.Assist guests with any problems they might inncur ie;plugged toilet, fix tv problems,change light bulbs etc.
The hardest part was fixing all the hot water leaks as there were alot
inside the walls and ceilings.
My fellow workers easy to work with and were willing to give a hand when and if needed.
Management for the most part was easy to deal with but sometimes did not realize you cant just leave an area you are working in to go change a light bulb in a corridor,lobby,etc.

Good for meeting people and a free ski pass but a disaster for everything else.

You'll be working 5 days a week with only 2 days to ski. Possibly the worst job to get if you want to be on the hill a lot.

The rota and scheduling was shambolic, hours cut and raised constantly with no explanation. 

Some people were working 5 days a week and they only wanted 4 and vice versa. Nothing changed in the 6 months that I was there.

If you need to get the bus back home in the winter then good luck. The shuttle bus leaves at 16:30 and the finishing time for housekeepers is 16:30. This leaves you with a fast run through the hotel and if you miss it then you have to wait until 18:00 for the next one.

poor management, they don't know whats going on. very hot and cold environment (ie. the managers) everyone leaves for a reason and they don't understand its because of them. The job is good but can be boring and guests can be entitled which makes it hard to give compassion. Management doesn't know how to manage and doesn't care to. also they don't know how to hire and keep good employees. if management was better it would be alright to work at.  

I've learned so much things such as how to be more patient with guest , to multi- task. The management are great and supportive, my co-workers are great and were like family.
The hardest part of the job is to deal with difficult guest you have to have a lot of patience but when you have a supportive managers is easy to handle it.
The most enjoyable part of the job when we work together at the same time and were having fun doing our job.

As a Marketing Support Manager, I was responsible for maintaining and updating the websites, emarketing (online advertisements, email campaigns, tracking and reporting) as well as print collateral (ensured all materials are of corporate standards).

Worked closely with Director of Revenue and Director of Sales and Marketing.

Many of employees there have been working more than 20 years. So yes some positions do have better benefits than other hotels, but not every positions are sppreciated much by its employees. Very good place for a starter but not for the career advancement. Current Management is not up to its own reputations and worth, most of the time, long term employees are the ones sustaining the operations.

Working for Sutton Place Hotel was the first hotel job I’ve received and the staff and people in that place made it easy for me to adapt to my profession easily. I started in housekeeping and the people were so nice and kind to me. Working for Sutton Place Hotel made me feel like I have a second family :)
