I worked for for an IR Swarovski (and I think that was the first problem) and the management was unorganized, unprofessional and overall unethical. The store is fairly new and started off as a little family (I still care about all the girls there) but management slowly started to kill morale by micromanaging, training mistrust towards clients, and was literally like a high school behind the scenes. 

The AM is beyond incompetent and was the reason that this store developed a hostile work environment where staff suppressed unhappiness based off of the fear of being fired. If you do the bare minimum, you're shamed for it, and if you go above and beyond you're also shamed for it. For ladies with children, be ready for the AM to call them 'that thing of yours'. 

They have zero respect for you or your time or life outside of work and are rarely thanked when you stick your neck out for them. (Believe me when I say that management pulled me to the back room and told me to my face that: "No one respects you"). 

They also refuse to pay for overtime despite them scheduling you for it, and when you politely ask to be compensated for what you worked they try to weasel their way around paying extra taxes and offer to put YOUR PAY, on ANOTHER EMPLOYEES' PAYCHECK, for which THEY WILL TRANSFER YOU BACK......that is the pinnacle of unprofessionalism for me. 

I was unhappy for so so long and I know that the current staff is unhappy too. I couldn't take it anymore and upon handing in my two week resignation they essentially tried to fire me and tell me not to come into work ever again.

Disgusting.

overall a slow business with no growth in sight. part timers are not valued and over worked with demanding requests. If you are not favourited you will get only 3 hours of work a week when others receive over 20 hours. 

Management loves to pick favourites but also doesn't do any training with you. When you ask a question you are put down and questioned if you have any common sense. There is also a total lack of Work-life balance as they always ignore the availability and schedule you on days you can't work or have told you are unavailable to work. 

There's also a large competition with management as they never like doing returns and question why customers don't like what they bought. Leaving you to handle it and always handing out a bunch of random tasks so that you can't interact with customers. Leading to too much high school drama and catty talking.

only pros is that you get half off on products and a free gift every three months.

a day at work would begin with several emails from head office. fax machine and printers not working. changing floor display and windows. washing floors. dealing with customer complaints due to high volume of returns.
no support from head office, company focus is on what the store looks like as oppossed to customer satisfaction. unable to order or transfer product for customers. management has no work ethics, morals, values or respect for their employees.
most difficult part of the job is the long hours expected . working open to close is regular practice due to shortage of staff.
not paid bonus or given incentives. company has employee contests every month but never send price for the winner.
co workers were amazing employees that I was asked to force out because the district manager didn't think they were a good fit.

nothing enjoyable about this company.

I worked in a great location with great co-workers.
but the brand is not consistent. which made it hard to follow up with clients and give clients honest information since the company constantly changing their agenda it made it really hard to build trust with clients since we constantly contradicted our previous words and clients lost trust in the sales associates, even though we were motivated to built trust.
no coordination between store to store policies and customer service policy. miss information on mass advertisement, ended in mass angry clients coming in angry at staff members. we were left with no information to give clients and no compensation to redeem them.
management is constantly changing and higher up managers are micromanaging and setting unmaintainable goals with no tools to succeed.  very frustrating work environment.

I was hired for the Christmas season, I was a cashier and also a support for the other sales executives. It was my first job in sales so I learned a lot about how to build a relationship with the clients in a respectful way and also learned about how a retail store works in an operative way.

The manager was really friendly and always willing to help me to become a better sales person, The workplace culture was fun, I became friends with my coworkers and had fun with them while developing my tasks.

I think the hardest part od my job was when the floor was extremely busy. On Black Friday the store was full so I learned how to handle stress while being a helpful hand for my coworkers.

The most enjoyable part of this job was being able to create a good relationship with my coworkers, once you have that, all tasks go smoothly.

Only accept a role here if you're desperate for some cash.  Go into it with a temporary mindset because that's how they view you. Overworked, underpaid - no one really knows what they're doing there.  

Extremely political.  Imagine the average workplace politics and then times that by 10.  Every decision made is made with a negative impression on how it will be viewed/accepted. 

They are a really conservative company that is stuck in the late 1800s and they tend to hire people with the 1800s management mentality.  If you do something revolutionary you are either viewed as a hero and then get fired, or you are viewed as a threat and then get fired. So just be average, and get your average pay, and look for something better while you continue to be average.

A very competitive environment. The company does not care about the employees, does not give any benefits, they just care about sales and making the store goal target. The company does not want people inside the company be friends, they do not care about the environment or teamwork. So sad that they want to show that are a high brand but this is not the reality.
There is a ridiculous commission that no one gets, there is not any other motivation or insentive. The wage is the minimun and they just increase a few cents every year. No way to get any internal promotion because the managers manipulate the situation to give the positions to the person how they want. Do not waste your time in this company

In the position, I got the opportunity to work with youth from different walks of life who were facing various adversities. I encouraged them to pour their emotions into different mediums of art and taught them presentation and public speaking skills. My co-workers were very good at engaging with youth and we communicated well with each other in order to get work done effectively. I learned how to have fun, while impacting someone's life in a positive way. The hardest part of the job was the hours, I felt that there were not a sufficient amount of hours allocated to teaching the youth every week. The most enjoyable part was being able to teach and just knowing that I was an agent of change in someone's life.

I worked in Swarovski Burnaby. Never had a manager being so irresponsible in my working life so far. The company allows her to hire her own daughter to work in the store. The scheduling has been favored to this new employee ever since. There are no employee benefits for part-timers. Manager disapprove employees to speak any languages other than English, but she is constantly on the phone speaking foreign languages. Callers usually refuse to leave messages, assuming those are all private calls. 19 people has left the store since it opens 2 years ago. More will be hired and more will be leaving. Even if you really like swarovski, please don't work at the one in Burnaby.

What I valued the most was the training programs in place that provided insightful sales knowledge and increased our knowledge of the new collections. I really did value learning about new collections and learned so much about the current and past products from my team. I also thought the benefits were fun and I built quite a personal collection of Swarovski pieces.

It's typical for management and staff to differ between stores and areas, and I encountered good and bad coworkers. That's typical. There were times when there were disagreements over sales due to the in-store competition since it affects commission. Of course, that's a side effect of working with commission and everyone's experience will vary.
