I cant say enough about how poorly this company treats its staff. the owner, management, and office staff are as organized as a herd of cats. Redoing things because you were given the wrong instructions or management didn't think ahead is apart of the norm. They dont pay overtime, they will tell you that you dont have to work overtime but it will constantly be expected of you, regardless of what you have going on outside of work. I have never worked for an employer who is more dishonest and cares so little about his staff. It used to be a good crew of guys but everyone from management to labours have been dropping off like flys because of how poorly things are run. You will be expected to do jobs with broken trashed tools. You'll be expected to work around broken, unmaitained heavy machinery. Get used to asking other trades for tools because you'll be under equipped almost always.  If you need a job do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Even temp agencies will treat you better and there's higher concern for your safety. Work safe is always showing up due to complaints. In terms of pay they'll do their best to underpay you and a raise will never happen unless you threaten to leave for a better paying job, and than the raise will be less than industry average. Literally every landscape company offers more than these guys, in terms of money, benefits work environment.  The company has gone so downhill on the installation side that it's gone from 20 guys to about 5 all new hires. Do yourself and the people in your life a favor and apply elsewhere . 

working with your peers will always be a fun and rewarding experience, however the ppl running it, is a riptide looking to ruin your day at best. expect the boss to be highly irritable man that will yell at you for asking questions on how you can represent his business the best way. there would be many times where it came down to who drew the shortest stick when it came to who was gonna be calling him to ask if we can get more supplies, to inform him something broke, when the client and his instruction conflicted with one another, or even just to understand a text with spelling errors and broken english. coworkers A+ along with most of the higher ups. as a new worker you will know who you need to avoid at all cost within your first month. i recommend saying you only have a certain number of minutes on your phone so you'll never be expected to make a call. oh and DL a tv show/podcast or something on your phone bcs everyone is usually 15-40 min late(only if you meet them at the site rather then the shop)

I worked here several years ago, but as i'm job searching now, I see Swicks pop up, good to know hes still going strong.
I had a good time working here, I joined as a carpenter, and the day to day was pretty much, shovels in hand and laying pavers, I left because I was feeling ready to start a small reno company of my own. 
I learned a good amount about drainage, ground materials and building envelope. I never found material orders lacking and rarely had to "order extra" Tools were always provided, though they were old, (to me it doesn't make sense to have pristine tools in this situation) and I supplied a few of my own to cover the finer details.
Hardest parts was dealing with  the capabilities of some of the co-workers, Fun to be around but getting them to do enough shoveling to focus on the carpentry was difficult. And the snow removal sucked for me, my sleep schedule doesn't turn on a dime well enough.

Always good to work in the outdoors. Great co-workers, interesting projects, easy going management.

Worked Here for about a year while on work visa in 2022. The jobs are pretty detailed and high end. Worked on the construction install crew as a laborer and then was given a lead position within a few months. It's the type of place if you have suggestions about improvements or new ideas they are welcome. They expect you to be part of the process. Lots of crew and lots of learning opportunity. Like most landscape jobs and the vancouver weather there are some long hard days but I had no issues taking holiday time and getting on with the crews. 

The hardest part of the job are the hours and getting to the sites on time if you have no car. It is physically exhausting and can wear you down. However the pay was good and I learned a lot about plants, landscaping and caring for nature organically. There is lots of site hoping and the work trucks are quite nice. The most enjoyable part of this job is when you work with a crew you stay with that crew and form friend ships over a hard days work.

The best part of Swick's are the employees because Ron is not a good dude.

Being off for 2 weeks during the winter and never getting a straight answer for returning to work.

Environment is fine, the management is sub par though.

Going in and laying stones or shoveling dirt.

The staff parties were fun but the shop was kind of messy.

Snow removal amd salting was not well organized

There was a sense of preasure to get things done but not a lot of support

I worked 3 months there, all Co workers were very nice and friendly. It was a good memories and good friends I made. It was far from my home and it took an hour to get back specially in the afternoon. Another thing is sometimes you decide to go on sites with your own car but you pay for the gas more. Anyway if you like to do physical working it's the right place. 

Started out in the maintenance div and moved to install. its a great company. Management changed a couple times for the better and really happy with how things changed. Staff morale is  good and I was offered the salary I asked fro which was on the higher end of the average for my experience. Kept busy all winter long... solid company.
