Worked at TA for 7 years, including 5 years in management. The culture is one of the most toxic I’ve experienced. Leadership only seems interested in sales numbers while employee concerns are ignored. HR is ineffective, gossip and negativity are everywhere, and good employees leave because they’re tired of being undervalued.

I watched people raise legitimate concerns for years and nothing ever changed. Work-life balance is poor, morale is low, and the company continues to lose good people while wondering why turnover is high.

Leaving was one of the best decisions I’ve made. My mental health improved almost immediately after getting out of that environment.

I have held more than a couple customer service jobs, and to date this was the most difficult and stressful place to work. I dismissed all of the negative reviews and thought I should give it a chance- I implore you to believe every negative thing that has been written in this forum about this place. The lack of professionalism was astonishing, and frankly embarrassing to witness, the nepotism and favouritism lead to an environment that could be best described as like being back In high school . Sales people ignore calls and lie to customers on a daily basis, and leave reception and management to clean up the mess. To make matters worse, the corruption worsens the higher up the chain of command you go, many senior execs of the company are related or in some sort of relationship . Drama, bullying and fights are what you can expect from this place. Not to mention the poor pay and inconsistencies come pay day. I wish I had better things to say but I do not. If you value your sanity or self esteem...do not work at this place. 

An ideal employee for TA is a young, inexperienced worker with low salary expectations and does not require interaction with your direct supervisors.  This family business is attempting to expand but it suffers from corporate immaturity, instability and a lack of consistency.  This has resulted in logistic issues, H+S issues and HR issues.  This is a great place to temporarily work in order to learn the basics of Appliance Sales and Operations and to get some experience on your resume.  Experienced workers on all levels should stay clear.

Overall, my experience working at TAAppliances was very negative, and I would not recommend it as a workplace. Human resources concerns were consistently minimized or ignored, and there appeared to be little accountability for inappropriate behaviour from both employees and management. Workplace culture was lacking, and there was limited focus on employee well-being. Leadership priorities seemed heavily focused on sales performance and cost reduction, with little transparency or reinvestment in employees.

Nepotism runs rampant in this horribly managed store.
If you are related or are a very close friend to the store manager, sales are given to you without you even meeting the customer.
Management support is non existent. Proper and honest customer service is very hard to provide customers as management NEVER puts the customer first. Deceit, and dishonesty is the only guaranteed response from the store manager in Barrie.
I would give no stars if it were possible.

Detached from head office , employees at satellite stores are totally forgotten

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Straight days or straight afternoons, horrible scheduling and always short staffed

Relatively friendly work atmosphere, i learned how to optimize my time and assembling skills. My manager was usually fair, but the hardest part of the job was when i was asked to do something unsafe or that im not certified to and having to refuse. The most enjoyable part of the job was my designated job duties and the fact i had my own office so to speak, where i could be left alone to do my work.

Worst job ever had a boss complained daily about sales and targets and how we didn't bring in customers when it's management and upper management and advertisement which is job to bring in the business and customers and so competitive that other sales moons would steal your commission and yes it's a fully commissioned job so it's not worth it highly stressful and highly competitive

If you're not connected in some way to one of the family members that own TA or head office personnel, you will never succeed here because they will treat you like an outsider and you can never get ahead no matter how good of an employee you are. This place is a straight up click fest where the most minor of mistakes are punishable by termination. They don't even give you a chance to learn the job. You're trained by total incompetents who set you up to fail.

I was there for a couple months, it was decent at first. Base+ commission was nice during probationary period. I liked most of the staff, left due to unfair treatment, I could not have one of my shifts changed, yet a new hire was allowed to take a month vacation. Very "politics" based environment, everyone is treated differently based on time worked there/gender etc. 20 people is too many for that store.
