This company was smaller than most of the other oilfield production companies out in the area, but it started to boom right away, and made a name for itself relatively easily, securing it's long term position in the game even with a later start-up. As a whole I'd say the company deserves a high rating. 

- Typical day at work; Drive for between 40 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the weather conditions and the traffic. It was certainly the most dangerous part of the job. Once we got to site, it was hard work from the time the toolbox finished to the time we wrapped up, with a few breaks in-between. When fabrication was backed up, the site slowed down a little here and there, but otherwise provided constant work. 

- I learned quite a bit about everything. A little drafting, a little team management, how to measure, operate heavy equipment, how to fish a 16' pipe through a pipe rack (it wa a puzzle some days, let me tell you). Too much to write about here.

- Management was good. They knew what they were doing, did their best to help us and listen to us whenever we had problems or solutions to bring to their attention. 

- Co workers were probably the best part about working at TAHK. Fun people to work with, easy to get along with, and knew what they were doing. 

- Hardest part of the job...Probably when Hydrotest came around and we had to test the runs of pipe that ran the whole sight. They were long days, high tension, dangerous pressures...It would make for short tempers, but it always got done, and we always got to head home. 

- The most enjoyable part of the job...Probably the most satisfying part in my opinion would had to have been coordinating efforts as a lead hand. Putting pipe together, working with the cranes, putting real muscle into closing the seal...it built character, that's for sure.

Typical day at work: 

Read and Interpret drawings.
Layout, assemble and install piping systems, valves, supports.
Rigging and hoisting equipment.
Hydro Testing.
Clean up and housekeeping.

What I learned: 

Measure and fit pipe efficiently.
Using proper materials according to code and standards.
Use time efficiently.

Management and co-workers:

Management was very supportive and kept a keen interest on our safety. Very approachable. 
Co-workers were knowledgeable and great mentors. 

Hardest part of the job was doing the best quality of work in an efficient and safe manner in a fast paced environment, but it was rewarding as well.

Most enjoyable part was completing the job and tasks safely, receiving honest praise from our supervisors, feeling like I accomplished something at the end of the day.

They used to be good to work for and the pay was competitive. But with the new bunch of onsite superintendents they have deteriorated significantly. If you want to work for a company that has tyrannical management and poor office workers (to many tax and payroll mistakes), this is the place for you. They used to be good. They continually lay their people off and don't get them back for the next job, but hire them back eventually when they get desperate. No job security what so ever.

I spent a lot of years working for TAHK. In terms of their treatment of employees, they are above average. Wages were also higher than average. Workers must be competent and produce. They are generally well staffed with good people. If you're a union hand you probably won't like the pace or the expectations of you so stick with your mediocre union. Their management teams are top notch, efficient and intelligent. Good equipment, well equipped tool cribs and a new vehicle fleet.

Had the opportunity to work with TAHK.  My experience with them were great.  The PMs I dealt with were knowledgeable and supportive, the superintendents knew there jobs inside and out.  Same can be said for the GFs I worked with.  Craft was easy to get along with, and performed quality work.

I enjoy working on all types of challenges in the oil-gas industry, my day includes productivity, working on solutions to any job related problems, consistently keeping morale up and continuing to reassure employees for a job well done, keeping all on a zero incident track. To be a great supervisor, is to understand each and everyone's individual mentalities under your passionate and controlled care for all to reach their goals in life.

i worked 11hour days and 14 day shifts and one 24 day shift. it was tough but i enjoyed the challenge. i wanted to originaly be a welders helper from the start but the positions were filled so i was temp a labourer then moved into document control and finally got an opening for a welders helper.

I enjoyed working for TAHK as they are a great company to work for.  If opportunity arises I will work for them again. They are a competitive company in the industry they work in. Great people to work with . FIRAT DAY on the job was great like a part  of the team .  Great feeling

The gas plant was a 45 minute drive from the hotel through logging roads, the wild life was incredible, moose , deer, caribou , grizzly bear just to name a few. The project was an expansion of an existing  plant so safety was very strict  and watched closely. It was a pleasant  job to be involved with , workers were great to be with , good additude and very responsible .
