I worked at TG Minto for many years. At first it seemed ok, they know the right things to say to convince you it's a good place to work and that they care about their employees. I worked very hard for this company and that was ok with me because I don't mind working hard but they always want more. Management seems to be promoted based on lies they tell regarding the amount of work that can be done in a day which leaves the people at the bottom struggling everyday to push out the production that is expected of them. There is often overtime in an attempt to make up the difference between what is expected and what is possible. Those who are hard dedicated workers become injured then are forced out the door. 
TG Minto offers great starting rates and benefits to attract employees.  You start with one paid vacation day for every month you're there for the first year. In your second year you have 15 paid vacation days. After 3 years you get 18 paid vacation days per year but it doesn't increase again until you have been there for 10 years at which point you get 20 paid vacation days. You make it to top rate within a year and a half. This system works well for them as it motivates people to stay while they are most valuable. They have little desire to keep people long term because by that point they have generally acquired repetitive strain injuries and become a burden to the company.

Unless you're in dire need of money, I do not recommend working here. I've worked on both afternoons and day shift. On afternoons there is a lot less management so people feel free they can get away with what they want. I have had leader techs lie about the number of parts we have produced so it looks good on them. This same leader tech is often gone for half the shift, usually back in shipping having a smoke since they have a back door that is unsupervised. This incident has been reported but nothing has been done. The president of the company was seen throwing clip boards at supervisors during meetings and again nothing has been done. The morale has gone down drastically. Nobody cares about the work because there is so much disorganization and lack of communication between workers and higher ups that it makes it difficult for workers to do their jobs. Management and supervisors have a "I'm better and I know everything and what's best" type of attitude, but last I checked they DO NOT do any building of the parts so how do they know what's best on how to perform my job. There is no room for improvement or suggestions from the assemblers because their suggestions are often shut down by supervisors and management. They are not flexible when you become sick. A worker provides doctors notes about absentism and they are still punished. A worker was hospitalized due to an illness and was still punished.

I worked in PC/ Warehouse for a few years and would not recommend it to anyone. It was stressful, fast paced, physically demanding work that is very hard on your body. 

They are always short staffed which means that you are expected to do the work of multiple people. Turnover was ridiculously high when I was there, so you were also expected to do your work while trying to train another person. 

Getting mandated to work weekends is not uncommon. They told us "you are mandated every weekend until we tell you otherwise."

They also have issues with not paying people properly. Not paying them for the correct hours they worked, the correct rate of pay, holiday hours, bonuses, etc. Always check your paycheck...

Injection and assembly are boring and repetitive, but they do let you listen to music at your station. The benefits are also very good and the people who work there are very very nice. 

I eventually ended up leaving due to stress and found a better paying job that is far less stressful and doesn't expect me to do the work of 3 people. 

***Beware if you are trying to get PR, they will lie and make false promises to you for jobs that do not qualify for PR. Be very careful, do your own research and do not trust what they tell you.

 

The jobs are easy but you rarely have every thing you need to build. Extremely short staffed on the afternoon shift, but that’s ok because the injection presses can’t keep up with customer orders so you may end up sweeping for part of your shift while you wait on parts. Then you will be mandated to work on Saturday and asked to volunteer on the Sunday. People with families sometimes do this so they can have a full weekend off the next weekend. Stress levels are through the roof in management but the some are very helpful and seem to live at work trying to help, others not so much so. It was a great place to work but is becoming more unbearable. Pay is not adequate for the area, benefits package is good but does not bridge the gap in the hourly rate. If you like 100+ hours on your biweekly pay check this is the right place for you. 

Good job when I started but became worse once time went on, I was used for my excessive speed and dexterity.  the company would make me do multiple peoples jobs just cause they knew I could so it would save them $$ ,all without any promotion or raise after being there 3 years .... so the long and short of it is .... great co workers , poor management and leadership in certain areas of the plant . Human Resources is always less then helpful . Waited over a month just to get a pay stub after being there for 3 plus years . No communication between management and employees . Management lacks motivation in willingness to succeed and allow advancement throughout the company . Management also unwilling to listen and learn from mistakes thus proving the company’s massive turn over rate . Not recommended if you are a person of common sense cause nothing right you do here is recongnised or is deemed “acceptable “ by corporate .

TG Minto at the beginning was different for me. It was my first plastics factory I had been to and in the beginning it was something I could live with. The job its self is VERY repetitive, VERY boring, and drags. The shift is divided into 4 quarters, has two 10 minute breaks, and a 30 minute lunch. You are required to stand in the same cell repetitively applying components to plastic parts, checking for any damage to the plastic before and as you do so. Talking is not allowed, music is not allowed, you are just to build your parts like a robot. The management is awful, harassment is terribly handled i've seen in a few cases, and supervisors & some (not all) 'Leader Tech's' have 'I don't care' attitudes about their work. 
Overall the job is good for a few months if you need something while you look for something more permanent. They do offer great benefits the day you start, uniforms you have to pay for once you no longer work there, and a factory that doesn't get too hot.

Overall, employees feel comfortable and satisfied working for the company. The work environment is positive, and team members generally get along well with one another. Management provides support when needed and encourages employees to perform their duties effectively. Workers appreciate having clear expectations and a workplace where they are treated with respect. Although there are occasional challenges and busy periods, employees believe these issues are manageable and do not negatively affect their overall experience. Communication within the company is acceptable, and staff members feel that their contributions are recognized. The company offers a stable environment that allows employees to complete their tasks efficiently and maintain a healthy work-life balance. In general, workers do not have major complaints and consider the company to be a decent place to work. Their overall feelings toward the organization are neutral to positive rather than negative.

Personal friends of management get their choice of positions, work hours, and break times whereas others are made to go through application processes 

The COVID guidelines are disregarded as the general manager, multiple supervisors and several workers wear poorly fitting masks and constantly shun their responsibility to follow/enforce these rules

Incredibly unprofessional demeanor from nearly everybody because worker morale is low

A poor track record of dismissing employee concerns, or simply never being able to stay caught up with them

Racism from leadership at times

Terrible ergonomically, and any change to work environment or work stations is made without consultation from employees on floor

good employees are pushed into doing more work to compensate for the lack of others.  instead of encouraging others to do better to even out the work load. 

new hires sometimes go months untrained and are left with nothing to do but clean and fill components.  

difficult to get time of requests approved as only one person per department is allowed to have time off at a time.  health and safety is made to seem like a priority but is not properly enforced.  proper ppe isn't always available when required. ie reflective vests for the warehouse are required to be done up but to find ones that fit well enough to be done up or that have velcro still on them is a task on it's own.  

HR department DOES NOT keep personal communication confidential, and do not always answer emails.

Assembly jobs are easy but monotonous.  PC is a revolving door because the work is really hard on the body. 

The working environment is pretty clean and safe.  All areas except shipping attempt to create an ergonomically friendly workplace.

Most of the employees and some leaders on the floor are fabulous people but upper management is clueless.  They've banned earbuds and repremand communication between employees so there's nothing to break up the tedium of the days.  The breaks are only 10 min opposed to the standard 15 min with an unpaid 30 min lunch break.

The raise that was planned for April was cancelled despite record inflation and a minimum wage increase in October.
