The technicians at Thermo King Calgary are a good bunch of guys for the most part. 

The company has most of the tools needed for any job you are doing and the service vehicles for the most part are in great shape and well equipped.

Management is the biggest issue with this location. Management has created a culture of fear with everyone in the office trying to throw anybody they can under the bus for any little thing. Management are the biggest offenders of the very policies they ask you to abide by. I have personally seen fights and yelling matches between management and employees. Management also has no issue emailing the entire staff to call you out on your mistakes - even honest mistakes which are easily corrected (such as entering the wrong code for a task on a work order). 

Further, Management expects everyone to generate a certain revenue quota per month, yet don't assign certain technicians enough work to meet that quota, such as continually sending the same technician into yards that yield little to no work. They then post everyone's numbers on several doors throughout the shop in an apparent effort to "motivate" those technicians who under perform. Management does not avail every technician the same opportunities to generate revenue and favour certain technicians over others. Quotas are not adjusted during times where work is so sparse that technicians are either sent home early or asked to stay home entirely.

I would not recommend working here until new management is in place.

Great Management and keen mentorship at this ThermoKing location is making my career transition from the military into the trades so very easy. I enjoy working with everyone and trying my best to keep up and learn fast. I recommend having at the very least a freestanding toolbox, a drill, electric ratchet, metric 6 to 24mm sockets and wrenches.
Qualifications are not required as long as you prove that you're able to learn on the go and have basic tools.
I make enough to pay the bills and for more expensive niche tools. Compressed air tools are available from the company but battery electric Dewalt, SnapOn or MAC is recommended for sharing. 

My location has a monthly barbecue, boot and tool allowance and the culture as well as management is fantastic. I hope that I have the good fortune to work here for the rest of my career.

I’ve had a consistently positive experience working with Thermo King. The company stands out for its strong focus on quality, safety, and reliable service in the transport refrigeration industry. From day one, the training and onboarding process was well-structured and made it easy to understand both the equipment and expectations. Management is approachable and willing to support technicians when challenges come up, which makes a big difference in a hands-on trade environment.

just go to work and go home. they cant keep a service manager cause the sales mgr was the service mgr for many yrs and anyone that gets service mgr he sets to fail. all the workers are great ppl even hanging out after work. the lead hands are great they will help you at the drop of a dime. its the management politics that kills the job

Very busy doing my job plus helping others

I was offered one job, in fact, 5 times more responsibility.  Your work will include the responsibilities of others.  From cleaning in the garage to working in the receptor. The mananger needs an untraditional shunt-driver!? (Manangers slang) Shunting will extend to the shuttle.  Expressing displeasure in something threatens with dismissal.  I do not recommend, but for life experience, you can take a chance.  It will be instructive!

Basically a good company for freshers . You can learn how to use the power tools and hand tools. Once you learn, company give the opportunity to move around for different installations. But wouldn’t recommend to stick here as they can’t go much higher on the wages. I would recommend this place for freshers to start there carrier.. if you are experienced , this is not for you.

Amazing co-workers. Unfortunately that’s where the pros end. Very unorganized atmosphere with constant changes that make everyone’s job more difficult. The problem lies with management. Extremely unprofessional manager who has no filter or respect, and unfortunately that ruins the job and creates a toxic work environment.
