A day at work consisted of two, fifteen minute breaks and one thirty minute lunch.  I would start out meeting My partner at our tractor and getting the first order form.  We would after that travel around the yard gathering the lumber required for the order.  After strapping the order into a bundle we would have one of the forklift drivers remove the order from our trailer and we would repeat this process for the day.  The work was easy and usually there was little or no rush to get the order done.  As long as the order was done the day before the day that it was to be delivered.

Older Employees had a superiority complex towards younger employees, 44 hours every week which was overtime. Customers were creepy and would hit on every female worker. Management would make retail workers stand outside in the heat during COVID-19 protocol. Store was always busy especially on Saturday. The salary was very high and you had 3 breaks but, hours were not flexible.

It's one of the worst places to work the pay is okay at best for the work, the managers and owners are toxic at best and your union will do noting to fight for you. If you like getting yelled at for long hours outside with little to no support from anyone this is the place for you then if not do yourself a favor and work somewhere else. The only plus side is long hours and overtime if you want it.


Working in the yard you are required to work in all types of weather.  Rain, snow, sleet, sun, heat and it is a very physical job.  Compensation is fair given the amount of education required to do this job.  Advancement within the company isn't as available as they make it appear when being hired.

good physical work for a good pay. long hrs and lots of overtime in the summer. over all toxic work enviroment. between the abuse of the union and general laziness of other employees. management at the top tier treat you as though you are just there to steal theyre money

It's ok, the pay is fair, the hours are there, I feel they take safety seriously.

If you're willing and able to put in a head days work then give Tamarack a try.

If you're looking to apply industry knowledge and best practices, it is the wrong place, it's the Tamarack way or the highway....it will dull and stagnate your career in the long run.

Toxic and worst Managed yard/company ever. It’s not some where you want to be if you are looking for a future. You are told your hours are one thing but they will change /cut your hours. They play the favourite game there as well. All while there is a union that doesn’t protect the worker, they work with Management to not help. 

I Moved up the ladder starting as a labourer moving to order maker to forklift driver and then to getting my dz and driving truck theres nothing I cannot learn and I have learned a lot from working here and look forward to expanding my knowledge and

I've been working here for most my working life.  Other than working in the early years on a few different construction sites.  Generally, I think we have great people working here.  We have a great balance of senior and junior staff that makes the workplace very dynamic.  Celebrated 50 years in 2023!

Days go by fast and it's a decent place to work when the hours are there..they are not fair when it comes to holiday pay and also overtime is given to the same old employees,
