The food here was amazing, and customer service is good, but that's about where the good things end for me. I was under constant stress while working here because of the fast paced work combined with the poor management. I would've been able to handle the pace had I been treated better. My position seemed to only get taken by high school students who were looking for their first job and didn't see the red flags in the interview. Unfortunately, that's how I got employed here as well. I worked 6 days a week and stayed late most nights on top of school. My day off was never consistent, sometimes it was even changed on the day of. I made several requests for a smaller and more consistent schedule but management didn't seem to care. There were other bussers that only worked as little as one day a week but management refused to schedule them because they "weren't good enough" but in reality they just didn't work enough to get used to the job. Many of them would actually quit because they weren't getting enough hours. I stayed for a considerable amount of time because I felt bad about the lack of employees, but I ultimately ended up leaving after a series of actions that made it clear my efforts were not being appreciated. I once tried to call in sick and I followed the company guidelines for doing so, and was denied because they preferred me working over any of the other perfectly capable bussers available. This place is notorious for being a horrible place to work and I'm surprised they are even still able to find people to hire in this town. I could give so many stories about my awful experience here but I won't because I'd like to remain as anonymous as possible. Do yourself a favour and avoid applying here. The management does not care about their employees in the slightest. And if you're a parent, don't let your kids apply either. This is not where you want them to get their first job experience. I honestly wish I could say I learned something positive here but I did not.

My coworkers they are like family to me most of us have been working together for over 10 years

Working under pressure when we get slammed with a huge dinner or lunch crowd 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
A Good friendly environment very consistent 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Greeting and looking after customers, and their needs in the way of food and drink. Making sure that the environment is clean and tidy at all times.

I worked here for roughly 2 months 
It started off good and positive, but after the novelty of being the new girl wore off I began to see the horrible management. The owner and his fiancée are brutal to their employees, yelling at them in front of fellow employees and customers. I lost my job because I called in sick once, the owner didn’t like my reason and proceeded to say he was taking me not coming in as me quitting, but basically he fired me, and wrote it that I quit. I’m so glad I left, I felt so stressed and treated horribly in this job. Do not work here.

Management made no effort to have a relationship with you in any way possible. There is absolutely no way of moving up because of all the older people who will never leave. My first year was terrible, everyone treated me terrible  and I booked off certain days to not work with certain people. After my first year it felt like my probationary period was over and everyone started being nice to me

Nothing good to say , management was abusive mentally and emotionally everyday!! Very critical of everything you do. Employees are extremely overworked and always stressed. No respect for your life outside of work. If you have a family say goodbye to that life because the barrel will be the only place you live and breathe for.

Absolutely recommend the barrel as a place for part-time and full-time work. A difficult and fast-paced environment, these positions are made for those who can handle the stress and the fast pace, and also keep their humour as well as a strong level of maturity. Would absolutely work here again. Keep in mind, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

The management was a disaster, they are rude and it makes it harder to talk to them. This is definitely a first time job to understand customer service, but you will leave quickly. It’s fast paced work and you will be yelled at if you mess up, there were only a couple of coworkers who were kind but most were judgemental. 

if you want to be abused, yelled at and stressed out apply here.  extremely unprofessional.   staff are constantly being yelled at and told how useless they are.  no appreciation whatsoever.  the staff turnover is extremely high. not surprising. 

This place is not worth it to work. The owner is crazy and fights with the staff all the time. Breaks are unpaid and you do not get any free meal. They do not pay tips till 6 months. 

Good place to work OK pay good learning experience a good size menu you work stations overall a good group welcoming and hardworking its busy and opened all year.
