There are some great frontline staff here, and coworker support is one of the only things keeping morale afloat. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives mostly end.

There is a strong focus on quotas and productivity that often comes at the expense of quality client care. Expectations are unrealistic, workloads are high, and compensation—especially for on-call—is not reflective of the demands.

Management is difficult to approach, and there is a clear lack of consistency and fairness in how staff are treated. Favoritism appears to influence opportunities, including hiring and internal movement. Feedback does not feel genuinely welcomed unless it aligns with leadership’s existing direction, and there is little trust between management and staff, with frequent micromanaging.

There is ongoing messaging about change and improvement, but little meaningful follow-through. New programs and responsibilities continue to be added without adequate staffing or support.

For a mental health agency, staff well-being is not prioritized in practice.

Overall, the workplace culture needs significant improvement in leadership, transparency, and support for both staff and clients.

For an agency focused on mental health, the front line workers mental wellbeing is anything but valued. Management says all the right buzzwords to make staff think things will get better but honestly it’s performative and most of the management team is incredibly ableist. 

The work (clients and programs) was the best part of the job. But seeing the revolving door of front line workers. We are treated like trash and thrown away at the first sign of a struggle. 
Be careful around leadership, they will say one thing to reassure you and stab you in the back when you are no longer useful. 

Honestly I am suprised they haven’t ended up in the media for the irony of what the agency “stands for” and their poor treatment of employees. It’s sad because so many great people do work there and deserve so much better. :(

This job is going to drain you. I entered this field as a passionate and driven person and this agency has taken it all away through micro-managing and "stream-lining". 
Things have gone downhill since management changes and they no longer care about client's individual needs. 
Unless you're friends with someone in management - don't expect to get promoted. ESPECIALLY if you question anyone above you. 
I advise not working here - find a less toxic place to work. You'll lose your drive and passion for the work. And you'll question why you entered this field in the first place. 

The only good this about this job is camaraderie with other frontline workers and working directly with the amazing clients. Its the only reason I haven't left yet.  

It has been an absolute pleasure working at Thresholds - I have felt supported by my Supervisor, and by my team. I had some difficult experiences in my personal life and my Supervisor supported me during/after that event. I am near the beginning of my career and this company has been such a fantastic place to learn and grow. I can make mistakes and not be afraid of feeling stupid/being shamed by colleagues or my Supervisor. My employment at Thresholds has been throughout COVID - I think that he fact that I've had a good experience here, even during COIVD speaks volumes.

Co-worker are supportive and friendly. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management has no leadership and see themselves above front-line employees.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You are not valued as an employee and treated like garbage. They make the job sound so wonderful on paper but very different once you get started. There is barely any training and if there is, it's very basic level.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Horrible, except when support the clients.

My experience at Thresholds was short and not positive.
Thresholds continues to go through many changes and this re-establishing themselves in the community is making them look silly.
Senior management and management is constantly changing and they continue to pick and grow their favourites and these people included incompetent and non accommodating people.
They do not value their employees and the culture is about being exclusive and no help to grow your career.
Team leads are not collaborative people.
Staff are not appreciated, always under staffed and people are always quitting.

Accommodations provided to learn new skills.

Learning new technologies and time management.

Please define the distinction you are making between "work environment" and "culture".

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive, check voice mail. check emails. define priorities, complete tasks in order of priority unless a more important priority came along during the day that must be dwelt with first.

I was able to learn a great deal about compassion, empathy, patience, and understanding from the Consumers.
-Sadly, I found the agency to be cliquish and gossipy.
-I think that some of the Supervisors/Managers should be given a bit more training/education in some of the areas mentioned above.
-Wages are terrible considering the responsibilities you have.
-So much of your time is spent cleaning up the houses the Consumers live in.

Started working and first time out shadowing with another staff heard nothing but complaints about manager for the program. Second day out with another staff only heard complaints about program manager and other staff. Staff where overworked, overwhelmed and not supported by their manager. Everybody was angry and felt alone. Hated working for this manager. He saw me eating in kitchen and ignored me. Worst place to work. Run, stay away.
