 Working as a Tire Tech at Tirecraft (General)
As a Tire Tech at Tirecraft, my experience has been a mixed bag, offering both rewarding challenges and some areas for improvement. Like many roles in the automotive service industry, it's a job that demands physical stamina and a good work ethic, but it can also be a great place to learn and develop valuable skills.
The Good:
 * Skill Development: This role offers fantastic opportunities to hone your technical skills. From mastering tire mounting and balancing to learning about wheel alignments and TPMS systems, there's always something new to learn or refine. Tirecraft often provides training, which is a big plus for career growth.
 * Team Environment (Varies by Location): In my experience, the team at [mention a positive aspect if applicable, e.g., "my specific location"] was generally supportive and collaborative. When you're dealing with heavy tires and tight deadlines, having a good rapport with your colleagues makes a huge difference.

Initially you will be hopeful and excited by promises of career building, training opportunities & company advancement, however you will soon realize these are empty promises. You will not be given raises promised to you and will continually be overworked, under appreciated and underpaid. Management is only concerned with lining their own pocket with performance bonuses & making employee lives miserable. HR is more concerned with covering for manager's mistreatment  then helping employees that they claim to be there to support. You will be continually run ragged and suffer from overwhelming stress due to mistreatment. RUN. Do not work here. 

To many contracted positions pulling in to many directions...no focus. The management need to take control back from all the outside services they use, set a direction, develop a culture of their own and  stay the course.
Owner/partners store structure is not conducive to successfully providing the best value and service to the client base. Each partnered location is focused on their individual location regardless of what is best and most cost effective to the customer. Stores and sales continually travel past other locations to provide service that would be less expensive to the customer from the closer location.

Always a different day at Tirecraft. Plenty of tasks in the Marketing Department that involved keeping 4 websites up to date, ensuring all retail POS (Point Of Sale) material was fully stocked and designed many advertising pieces for multi-media channels (newspaper, magazines, direct mail). This job gave me the opportunity to learn more about the tire and automotive service industry (Retail). The upper management team was great to work for, as they would let you tackle projects at a reasonable pace without too much pressure. Hardest part of the job was to juggle the top priority projects amongst all your daily tasks. The most enjoyable part of the job was the ability to demonstrate my creativity when called upon.

Local staff and head office staff are supporting and hard working

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Upper and middle management provide little support. Tend to micro manage. Need it done there way not the right way.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Puts on a good front as supportive. Even HR does a poor job supporting staff.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressing dealing with regional management. In store staff generally are good worker but feel under appreciated.  Had to hand out reviews and pay increases to two staff that had not seen raises in three years.

A typical day at work included the full cycle of accounting for 4 - 6 tire outlets.  I learnt how to multi-task and perform my duties with accuracy meeting daily, weekly and monthly deadlines. After 17 years at Tirecraft management and co-workers were not just employees but we became a "big" family.
The hardest part of the job was the transition when Tirecraft was sold to new management.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the BBQ's, Christmas Parties, etc., where employees got together to have some fun and not talk about business.

Moved from  another shop in another town to work for Tirecraft Fort Sask. Lasted about 5 months, then the slow season started. Instead of laying off tire techs who don't have drivers licenses or a journeyman ticket, they'll lay off the mechanics instead because they cost more to have around. Even though they have the skill sets to service all aspects of passenger cars / light trucks. They also do  ot provide any kind of uniform, you have to go buy your own. And was told there was a $200 boot allowance and $800 tool allowance. This is false, I was denied coverage of my boots when I purchased them. 

I have worked in sales/service writing for a Tirecraft for over 8 years.
Steady work, full time hours with minimal down time.  Seems to be something new to learn all the time!  Great blend of people to work with & customer interactions! Management staff are all hands on, often working along side of their staff.  Hardest part, I would say is proving to customers that yes, as a woman I am more than capable of providing the information they need :) Oddly that is also the most enjoyable part of the job too!

I begin my day by auditing all store DTR's and consolidating paperwork. I then complete data entry of all credits from Michelin for the previous days sales. During the day I support all stores selling products to customers in 3 different Provinces. My coworkers are hard working and dedicated employees. The hardest part of my job is dealing with customer complaints. The most enjoyable part of my job is creating processes that save time and benefit the company in a positive way.

Revolving door of employees. Family owned location. Tend to treat employees as outsiders as they aren't part of the family. Any issues with employees that are related to ownership gets ignored. Owner has a tendancy to scream at employees and vendors. The best part of working here was the other techs were great to work with as well as the above average pay. Which I assume is because the amount of stress and inconsistencies they subject you to
