I worked here for 8 years at their Burlington CH Norton Program starting as a before and after school teacher and ending in the Preschool Room. 

What I learned from Today's Family is that management does not care about you and will push you down any chance they get. This includes your associate director and your supervisors. 

I really loved how much my supervisor cared about the children! When I got yelled at for not taking my kids out in 40 degree weather last summer, I just knew they had the children's health and safety in mind. 

If you don't want to move up in a company, this is the perfect job for you! However, If you work hard enough, they'll reward you with great perks like Ice Cream Sunday Parties!

The hardest part of the job was the constant changes in staff... Not sure why they couldn't keep people around, working here was "great"!

The most enjoyable part of the job was my lovely coworkers. We shared so many fun times and inside jokes, my favourite being Today's Family: Quantity Care for your children. 

Coworkers and supervisors are fantastic and everyone is so supportive of each other. Upper management thinks they can treat us like trash :) the company is way too top heavy and ECEs/ centre workers get treated like we don’t matter. Associate directors do NOT care about your well-being. I can tell you right now 99% of the people I work with are STRESSED and treated unfairly. We do a lot of work for very little pay and very little recognition. Do not work for this company unless you like being pushed around and treated like you don’t matter. I have seen way too many people cry at work because of how stressed out we are. And nothing has ever changed for the better for us. Forced to change to a different location with two days notice basically because upper management can and will jerk you around for no reason. You’ve been warned

This company hired me knowing I did not obtain my ece then fired me over 8 months in to the position saying “not a right fit” I was supposed to be mentored by another ece and was never given that I worked alone at a school location and ran the program by myself with minimal support. I was used... I would use a lot of my personal money to buy the students gifts or activities all to reflect and make the company look good only to be fired for no reason. Whenever a day off was needed they would not be able to give you it off even when sick. They have not enoughstaff that can work the hours. My supervisor was young and would talk  down on me when I would slightly show her a bit of confidence in my approach of how she would talk to me she was not ok with it and was the reason behind me getting terminated . What is the best part of working at the company?
the children and families are the best. you really begin to build bonds with them. some co-workers become family 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
being out of ratio and not having enough staff to cover little things like bathroom breaks. worse if you have incompetent supervisors 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
if you have good enough staff the work environment can be pleasant but for the malt part their mission statements are mostly a facade and for show. the reality is that they don’t care about staff and care more about getting the most funding 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
if you show up and and do your job which is to take for the children a typical day can be fun

I felt that this job for the most part, was very great. I was given a lot of space to grow and learn as an educator. There was some bumps along the way, however, I was supported and appreciated.
There were times when I felt we as educators were struggling to become appreciated and valued, materials were not provided to do activities with the children, and staff weren't always pleasant.
However, the children and families were always amazing.

Today's Family, was my very first job! I had an amazing time working with them, because I learned a lot! I learned how to work better with others, how to provide healthy and delicious snacks, how to problem solve, and how to come up with creative activities to do with the children. My co-workers were amazing, it was if we were all one big family! The children were amazing as well, even though some days a few of them would give us a hard time. We had many problems come our way, such as trips cancellation due to weather, and upset children... But nothing we couldn't handle! My favourite part of working with Today's Family, was not only working with the children, but being able to explore by trying new things, and going on educational and entertaining trips with them!

this job requires an extreme amount of continuous documentation for every single little irrelevant thing. so much so that it distracts you from the tasks at hand. continuous number jotting with notebooks around your neck. there was about 3 binders worth of documentation that had to be completed plus attendances every week. the management and staff are judgemental and have a "better than you" attitude towards you. They are not progressive or patient with there staff. rather high expectations. and to many rules that it makes you nervous to do your job. they have ministry inspections come in while you are working with a large group of children asking several questions and watching over your shoulder . this job wasn't a career it felt more like a boot camp and a continus test

Can’t speak to how things are in the Hamilton locations but in Burlington it was a horrible situation with management. 

They would let staff who weren’t pulling there weight get away with it. They would try and bully you into working when your sick then inform you how they were going to a
Concert. 

Would try and lead through a “fear” based approach. 

A lot of people working are family based people and yet they want you to work at times full time hours for things like PA days and holiday breaks. 

Not very good of showing support of staff often undermining staff in front of the children.  Just very unappreciative of the work talented staff do and take those staff for granted. 

Again this is one location and not sure how it is acccross the board.

This place is disappointing. While it claims to be highly inclusive and fair, in reality, hiring decisions seem to be based more on family ties than qualifications. The management lacks the necessary experience and knowledge, especially when it comes to working with children. Many ECEs, including those with advanced degrees like a Bachelor of Early Childhood Leadership, work for years to gain enough experience to become supervisors. However, here, 20-year-olds with no relevant qualifications or experience are being appointed to supervisory roles solely because of family connections. I expected these types of practices only in certain industries or less-regulated environments, but it's disheartening to see it here. I would recommend staying away.

At Today's Family, a typical day at work was just cleaning tables and floors and helping the children get ready to go outside and play, and serve them their meals and snacks. Management was great everyone was treated equally. The hardest part of the job was getting there because of how far it was from my house. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with the children everyday when I was there and getting to know all of them individually. I learned that it is not easy raising a child, and it is not cheap either.
