Town of Strathmore

I recently had the opportunity to work with the Town of Strathmore, and I must say, my experience was quite disappointing. 

Firstly, the morale among employees is alarmingly low. There seems to be a pervasive sense of disengagement and dissatisfaction, which negatively impacts productivity and teamwork. It’s disheartening to see so many talented individuals feeling undervalued and unappreciated.

Communication is another major issue. Important information is often not communicated effectively, leading to confusion and frustration. There are frequent misunderstandings, and it feels like a lack of transparency is the norm. Employees are left in the dark about decisions that directly affect their work, which only exacerbates the already poor morale.

Additionally, there is noticeable favoritism at play. It’s clear that some employees receive preferential treatment, whether in terms of task assignments, recognition, or career advancement opportunities. This not only creates a toxic work environment but also undermines the efforts of those who work hard and play by the rules.

Overall, my experience with the Town of Strathmore was far from positive. I hope that management takes these issues seriously and works towards creating a more inclusive and supportive workplace. Until then, I cannot recommend this organization as a good place to work.

Town is run mostly be people who do not live in Strathmore. They do not care about the town or long term employees. They are only there for the paycheck. You get zero recognition for hard work. 
 There is a continuous rotating door of employees who leave due to poor management and toxicity. Management would rather get rid of good people who bring up the many issues instead of determining the real issue. 
"Higher ups" favor employees even though they are completely incompetent at doing their job and doing everything against town policy. They find other employees to blame to hide their shortcomings as a manager. If you value yourself DO NOT work here. No matter how much you put into your work and helping the town be better you mean NOTHING to them. 

I left a well playing job to work for the town. I thought the fulfilment of helping making this place better would be worth it. How I was wrong.  From the second I walked in the door I was warned about the toxic environment. People quitting left and right.  And yet management couldn’t see a problem?   
They’re self centred, Controlling and do not want to see you succeed.  
I’ve met some great people and I enjoyed making this town look great and interact with the community. But the management ruins this place. And always will till they’re gone.  

Honestly the people you work with are great, it’s really the management that’s bad. For the casual lifeguard position there is like 100x more cleaning then you would think. Management says they are behind you but they are not. A few of the seniors are just out to get you and will just make your life miserable. I 10/10 would not recommend, go work with Calgary and make 2x more then here with a much better work environment.

I was hired a year ago and couldn't stay, I was on call for a year with no help. When someone eventually got hired to help me but I had no input into the decision. Every week since the day I was hired,  I have watched either someone quit or get fired, felt this was a work culture I didn't want to be a part of. Be cautious when you get hired as HR isn't that helpful. This place would be a great place to work if it could change the culture. My manager was pretty good but still she was doing the work of three people. 

The operations department has a great work environment; the manager and supervisors are very respectful and they are flexible when and where possible. There is ample opportunity to gain new experiences and training. As a student, the working conditions and the work-life balance provided by the TOS are fantastic, which is the reason that I have returned for multiple seasons.

If you enjoy walking on eggshells, doing the work of multiple roles for barely enough pay and being completely humiliated in front of coworkers, DON’T WORK HERE! 
The complete lack of respect for their employees left such a bad taste in my mouth that I have a hard time saying anything positive. 
The employees deserve more support and communication. 


Most toxic place I have ever worked. Corruption at its finest. The tax payers need to ask lots of questions about the spending. Met some great people there with high moral values. They were all fired! What does that leave? If there is high turnover in a job, the problem is always with the long term employees, not the people passing through.

I have enjoyed working with the town. I will sat that the Senior Team could be more involved, however they are doing a great job with other areas, that could take away from the departments. In a way, Management could use further help. Great flexibility with my career and my family. 

The typical day was fairly consistent and predictable. 

Good management and oversite but could have more feedback meetings and employee evaluations. 

Good work environment and positive people to work with. 

Good structure and framework for the day to day tasks. 

The most enjoyable part of my jobs were my fellow employees. I worked with some great guys
