Tractorland

Was hired very quickly without any normal hiring practices being followed (no reference checks, interview contained very little to no information on the location) I had heard good things from a few people that used to work here but things must have changed drastically since. Shop culture is ok, techs and parts techs you work with are great guys but the place is mismanaged by a horrible team starting from the owners down. Claim to be a family business but all that means is you are there working to make one family line their pockets. Training and orientation is non existent, Service manager is grossly unqualified to run a modern shop that is expanding. This seems to be a trend in this trade, very unqualified individuals work their way up in a company and then step on the next generation of techs to save their behind. I would encourage techs to stay away from this company.

Working at Tractorland was one of the most draining job experiences I’ve had. There’s no proper work-life balance.  Expect to work long hours, they disapproved taking lunch, and time-off requests are often denied or simply ignored. Management is disorganized and lacks consideration for staff well-being. It feels like you’re expected to give everything to the job, with little appreciation or support in return. It often felt like employees were seen as disposable.  They will hire you telling you all the great things you will get as long as you work hard, then let you go months later as they lack the funds to pay you.    

If you’re looking for a place that values their employees, respects boundaries, and fosters a healthy work culture, Tractorland isn’t it.

I was hired 2/3 with a week of VERY limited training or guidance. I was told to do data entry which I did. On 2/20 I was let go due to “not being a fit.”  When I asked for an example of me “not being a fit” I was told that I made a coding error on an invoice, and that there was an expectation that I would be “up and running” after 3 weeks. They have a very CLEAR culture and let’s just say that I am very colorful. What everyone else said is true, lack of proper management, very high schoolish and if you don’t fit into their clique or “culture” you have no chance of lasting there. In all reality this wasn’t a fit for me. I’m too much of a personality to be limited to tractor trailers. 

Tractorland is a fast growing company with lots of growth within. 

- Each day here has new challenges which keeps it fresh and new.
- There is sonething to learn everyday and there is always someone willing to help.
- Tractorland is like a large family. Everyone helps everyone. 
- The customer service buisness can be challenging but we always have the support of ownership and Management to help us end up with a happy customer always.
- Its nice to wake up and enjoy coming to work. Lots of fun and laughs with the staff and customers.
 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people in the back were great. The service writers were great.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with owners and management,  terrible on both counts,  not organized, no leadership,  lots of bosses but no leadership. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Terrible no leadership,  and very clicky, if you are liked good jobs, if not bad jobs and picked apart .

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Avoiding management,  to get job done.

The place is run by a family that the sons are managing ,but the staff you work with can kill it for you unless you FIT IN to the Clicks its like High School  popularity .....its a growing business with multiple brands , a lot to learn but is learnable , the pay and benefits are great . Management does not back you or tells you the truth in what you are doing right or wrong when you ask . if you do things like little extras that you think is a good idea or help others it goes un noticed ....the thing be prepared to buy your way in by bring snacks or bake goods for everyone in the shop / business 

Service manager is a good guy but is not good with customers or employees moral in shop low cause of service manager and everyone that has quite said its because of the service manager. Also many up sales missed and lots of missed opportunities to bring lots more money into shop by finding issues when a unit is here for other repairs . Customers that I have been to  have nothing good to say about the service manager and cant even stand to talk to him on the phone most of the time he hangs up on customers with no good buy or have a good day just click. 

This shop is expanding and is looking for new techs to work underneath a management team that is not prepared to handle a modern shop in a growing industry. The guys in the shop and yard are great to work with but management is some of the worst I have ever encountered. Onboarding and training was non existent and as a tech you will not be given the resources you will need to be successful in your role. Lots of other places nearby that are much better to work for!

the non-management staff is great, friendly, knowledgeable. this locations management staff is hit and miss. some are great, some are not.  some have a lack of authority due to micromanagement from head office. head office can be difficult to deal with. benefits are none existent. annual pay raises are non existent. pay raises only given upon reaction to losing work force. a very, do as I say or else type of upper management. 

I really enjoyed working here, everyone got along, could joke around but work still got done. The owners tried to make it a good place to work for their staff. My manager was fantastic, very approachable and understanding and listened to what was going on. Really don’t have anything bad to say about the company or the people here, only left as a different work opportunity had presented itself. (Really wish I had stayed though)
