Trane

Trane is a good company at heart, but they fall prey to their own advantage. The company is ripe with inefficiencies and just tedious workflow processes that haven't been considered holistically. 

For example: I need to fill out my timesheets twice, there is no active effort in Trane to actively pursue a competitive advantage in pricing at the project level, nobody seems to know what to do with the ridiculously vague corporate policies. Trane thinks the customers like their standards, truth is they don't! I talk to them daily. 

It's almost like every employee has created things in a way to cover their own butt. 

My advice to Trane is to work cohesively... Talk to everyone in your team's and below and above you. MAKE THE SYSTEM BE COHESIVE instead of a patch work process. Please for the love of God stop calling points "Command Status" it's either a command, or a status. 

If you are here you will enjoy the time with the people, and you will hate the system together. This company is good at heart, but so poor in its execution.

Trane has gone through many changes and continues to do so. Staff typically stick around at Trane for a long time which speaks to how happy they are in the company. There isn't really room for advancement but there is lots of opportunity available to try something new if you aren't in the right fit. There isn't a lot of effort put into the professional development of the office staff. Office staff are given a lot of independence to do the job how it works for you so suggestions are encouraged. Raises once a year typically related to COL. Work cell and laptop provided. Work truck if you are out in the field. Lots of focus on safety protocols and checklists. I was always aware of what was expected of me and was clear on how I needed to prioritize my day. 

I went for an interview with Trane. My first interview was a phone screen which due to difficulties on their end I needed to call back the interviewer in the US on my own dollar. When to an in-person interview which they prepare you for is STAR format, which no one talks like this. The questions are worded extremely intellectually for an entry level role. The building was hard to find as they do not have any roadside signage and the building is not directly on the main road. The interviewing staff were friendly however ran late. I don’t blame them as they use a scheduling person that books interviews. When I left the interview I was disinterested in working here due to my interviewing experience 


Great atmosphere and people to work with. 
The work was technical and challenging in a good way. 
Training is available in web portals, or periodic in house trainers come in for specific equipment/ controls classes.
Pay matched industry standards and benefits were decent. 
Some minor office/ technician politics but no worse than anywhere else I’ve been. 

Basically be a good person and try to learn as much as possible and this place will be amazing as a stepping stone or full career. Lots of techs have been there for 10/15/20 years. 

Entrenched management unable to improve processes or performance due to a rigid corporate hierarchy. Department silos can’t coordinate or cooperate without damaging their own metrics.  
Terrible at managing labor effectively due. 
Can’t sell anything because of inaccurate regional pricing models, inflated overhead and too many middle managers.

The communication constant with a people

Working for Trane was a real eye opener. In the beginning you feel like your an important part of the team, but when **** hits the fan your on your own. Management never has your back and you are left to figure out if you want to stay or leave. Overall if you don't mind not having a voice or be heard about problems in the company, then go for it. 

Aside from a few good people, the overall culture is cold and not very welcoming. The overall work processes and core management team lack structure, organization, vision and commitment. The work load is overwhelming and priorities are constantly changing creating a chaotic work environment. 

15% of The people were great to deal with but the remainder 85% were anti English. I spoke French but it was obvious I was English first and therefore treated poorly. And treated at times that I wasn't in the room.

It's a great please, great people, fast-paced it services.

The training options are open to all.and management .
