What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Many of the students did not want to earn their grades by doing the work, 1)The Professor did not get much support from the administration. 
I am a black female; implicit and outright biases were rampant; there was nothing I could do about it. I am still traumatized from the experience

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Old-world colonialism. Learners let you know that you are in the minority, and they expect to pass without coming to class or doing the work. Some, but not all  the students are outright disrespectful; Many of the minority students acted out their embarrassment for me

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I went in an hour early (without pay) to consult with the students,  home tired and deflated after not getting the support I needed to realize better outcomes. I had a big class of 75 learners; I had an assistant who was very helpful. I had practice in the community; Some of the learners complained that their assignments were too heavy.

very stressful and competitive especially if you are not white. the students are likewise privileged, judgmental and entitled, they behave as if they deserve an A, irrespective of the kind of work they produce. That's the work culture that I experienced as a Black person. The pay is dismal, really the lowest pay I ever got in any teaching institution that I have worked. The supervisor said, "most ppl are happy to just be working at UWO."  That didn't go over well with me because I can't take the fact that I am working there as proof that I deserve money from the bank. But the worst experience of all was the bullying from the students. I was left with PTSD. 

Employers ask what makes you unique for a number of reasons. They want to know that, beyond your skills that'll get the job done, you'll be able to bring something new to the table and that you'll fit into the company culture. Sure you can do the job, but can you do the job in a way that inspires those around you or that brings new skills to the table to share with others?  Will you get along with your teammates and be able to challenge and uplift them?
Employers want to know that you're not only a good candidate for the job, but that you're an ideal candidate for the job.

Management changed over the years and with that came unresponsive, missing management.  Have an issue? Never resolved. Confidentiality is paramount but no communication, especially during Covid-19,  was inexcusable.  The job was not rocket science but support from a missing management is causing this department to suffer in disgrace. Would NEVER recommend anyone work in housing until management is replaced with people who know how to treat people with respect.

Administrated managerial tasks by handling things such as setting student appointments with the professor, organizing educational events, and evaluating the progress of students which ensured highly satisfied students with a superior systematic work. I also ensured a proper prioritization of the various tasks assigned by the company by recognizing time constraints and the importance of each task which resulted in more organized work. 


I was a part-time teaching assistant there. My responsibilities included facilitate in-class discussions and marking assignments. I made sure that the students understood the content of the lecture, and the expectations of what they needed to know to pass exams. I also provided essay writing help, and met individually with students. Overall it was a rewarding opportunity for a graduate student to get a sense of university teaching.

I worked there for 5 years and enjoyed every day
Academic area of work was very interesting with working in research and building a world class research data warehouse was very stimulating.

Innovative research is always the top priority here. Great professors and very patient management staff. Absolutely love the environment and the people.

This was a great experience. It was great to work together with students in the social science faculty to ensure a smooth transition to university for incoming students.

Good for if your looking to work and still attend school  . Also if you live on campus this is a very convenient job with nice hours without working 8 hours
