There is solid management from the CEO down at Union Tractor. The company's vision and mission of meeting or exceeding customer expectations, at a cost far less than OEMs, permeates through the organization. People are excited that they get to be part of passing value on to customers. It is nice to be part of something people are genuinely excited about. 

This is the first company I have worked for, in my long career (even though I'm not too old just yet), that I felt I was in control of my own future. People here determine their own success or failures. Everyone has the opportunity to succeed; each person is given the chance to prove themself, and when they do well they are rewarded financially, recognized, and valued. There is a genuine, real, personal aspect to the leadership group that starts with the CEO and filters its way down. It is also commendable that poor performance is recognized as reduction of customer  service and as a barrier to team success. Most places cater to poor performers and give their attention to them. This place gives their attention to those trying to do well.

I suppose the best thing is that the organization cares about its employees well-being AND safety actually does come first (shocker, I know). I've seen so many companies go through the motions, but Union Tractor lives it.

Business dealings are based on integrity before end results. People are considered human beings before they are considered employees. I appreciate having a real connection at work and being able to be myself. I get the latitude to contribute to the group by exercising my strengths and my thoughts on what we can do better are welcomed.

The ownership group is supportive of endeavors that add value for customers or allow for efficiency and productivity gains. The management group is genuine and cares about people and customers as much as they do about financial success.
There are many intelligent, knowledgeable, capable, competent, and energetic employees. And most seem to care about a job well done.

It all makes for a great place to work. It is an amazing thing to actually go home at the end of a day and feel like you are part of something good. 




I would not recommend working here. The management shows clear favouritism toward certain employees, and nepotism plays a big role in who gets promoted or treated well. Hard work and skill don’t seem to matter much — it’s more about who you know.

The job organization is very poor, with constant confusion about responsibilities and schedules. Communication between departments is weak, and employees are often left without proper direction.

Safety practices are also concerning. Basic procedures are ignored or only followed when inspectors are around. Equipment isn’t always maintained properly, and management doesn’t take safety complaints seriously.

Overall, it’s a frustrating and demotivating place to work. There’s a lot of potential, but until the company starts treating all employees fairly and improving safety standards, I’d advise looking elsewhere

The guys in the shop were all good to work with

Safety concerns due to lack of proper tooling. And lack of concerns from upper management, even after brought to their attention on multiple occasions

In the shop is okay, some politics and favoritism as there is anywhere. 
Severe lack of faith from the bottom up for anyone not in coveralls. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive, get dressed, assignments and safety meeting,  working with others or on your own to complete repairs. 
Hunting around shop for proper tooling. 
Wash up, leave frustrated

Pay is decent but expectations are not realistic.

Trying to keep every boss happy. 
Bosses at every level and they all seem to have different expectations. Make one happy and make another upset in the same deal

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Cut throat. Seems like you are constantly working against other divisions instead of with them. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get there early. Put in work. Breaks are expected to be short and you are expected to be available even when on break.

July 17 marks our first employee BBQ of the season! It's always a great chance to step away from the shop, enjoy a good meal, and spend time with coworkers from different departments. Senior Management is once again providing lunch for everyone, which is a nice way to show appreciation for the team.

Events like this remind me that Union Tractor is more than just a place to work. The company makes an effort to bring people together, recognize employees, and create opportunities to build relationships outside of our day-to-day work. Looking forward to another great BBQ and a great summer with the team!

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was good until the new branch manager started. Then he was on a power trip. Some staff was easier to get along with than others. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
One of the parts guys, "Mr know it all" won't let things go. Sticks his mose where it doesn't belong..


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Tense most days. Techs are easy to get along with. 
 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When I was employed there, it was hard to drag myself out of bed. When the Old Branch Manager was there it was fun, joking around, laughing but professional at the same time.

I’ve never worked for such a dysfunctional operation before. Management is constantly revolving. Everyone has different ideas/ways they want things done but nobody communicates that. Tooling is from the 80s and they won’t spend a dime on anything. We aren’t allowed to have parts or supplies in house so any job you get you’re constantly waiting while simultaneously getting asked why jobs are taking so long. Don’t even bother doing work out of town for them because you will have to fight tooth and nail to get your living out expenses paid for while getting ignored by HR. Did I mention the entire company is run by big egos who think they know everything? 

Start the day with a tool box meeting. Jobs are assigned and safety is discussed. Go to work on your task. Sometimes the jobs change or you have to wait on parts. Wrap up the day, write your stories and be out the door by 4. 

Wide variety of tasks, brands, and ages of equipment to work on. Undercarriage to engines. With a small crew you sometimes help out with the warehouse and running the forklift. 

Good amount of work life balance. Most of the time overtime is voluntary. No weekends, home every night. 

Good people to work with, a lot of the tooling is older but new tools show up now and then. 


This place could be great if the culture would change , managemenybis strictly focused on their bonuses  and not delivery quality to customers poor quality out put because management would rush you at the end ofbthe month to get machines to a point where they can start billing and closing work orders regardless when the job was started or how big of a job

The shop is hard to keep clean floors in poor shape out dated equipment tools,no floor drains

When it's busy it goes good otherwise it's a long day
