Don’t recommend working here! Terrible work environment, and what you are compensated, isn’t in the slightest, enough for you to continue to work here. They don’t provide any support or guidance, and are very critical about your performance and your team’s performance, without giving any constructive feedback or suggestions on how you can improve. The head manager of the Fundraising team hasn’t even done a single day of Fundraising! Incredible how a significant disconnect can occur between canvassers actually getting the donors, and those working indoors. In fact, I would go so far as to state that their attitude towards actual canvassers is very condescending and belittling. You can do very well on one day, but if you don’t do well on the next, they’ll lambast you, unnecessarily so. In all honesty, I do believe the company will be doing down soon, especially since the management is this disorganized and inefficient. They expect you to work overtime, unpaid.

Honestly you reap what you sow.

Working at UP has been an amazing experience.  From the fundraisers to the management teams. The working environment is a very fun environment where you will be able to develop team and leadership skills 

There's also lots of room for growth.  If you're a person who's driven for success and likes to set goals and targets for yourself then this is the job for you.  You will be able to make very good many and impact so many lives at the same-time. 

I've worked with UP for 3 month before was promoted to a team leader position.  But like I said you reap what you sow. 

I think one of the best things about this job is that you are able to have an impact on so many peoples lives.  The hours are VERY flexible and you will also meet some really amazing people while working. 

I've seen people who were introverts become extroverts.

This can be your career... PT or FT. 
It's really up too you what you make of it.

I love this job, best one yet.

They bully you to get sales, and threaten to fire you if you don’t get them, they don’t give u travel allowance that they promise, they get upset when you talk to management about oversight, hostile to suggestions or questions. If you’re a guy and you get harassed they blame you, if your a girl and get harassed they feign sympathy but then bully you to continue getting sales, they favourite certain people even if those certain people directly violate workplace harassment policies. They use international students and siphon money from their pay. If you are gonna work here the best part is the other low level people, they are fun, anyone in higher levels see you as a tool to make themselves money. They claim to be about charity but they really just want sales.

There is little to no communication or organization in this job. My training consisted of a power point presentation and a brief meeting where I was informed I would be put on a different team than I was hired for and wouldn’t start work for another week. I received zero on-the-field training; I was just told to “start pitching”. Hours are performance based, so unless you are managing to get three donations every shift, you will not have consistent hours. They actively tell their employees that they don’t want them working more than 7 hour-shifts because they don’t want to pay them full-time hours. I was fired after three shifts because I couldn’t manage to secure any donations (even though I had zero actual training). Do not bother, it is an exhausting job that does not give you as much as you give it. 

There are no words to describe the absolute toxic work culture that is at Up Fundraising and it's sister company Knewsales Group (that now goes by KSG). They are in the business of taking advantage of international students who don't know their rights. Upper management openly makes fun of their workforce for not speaking English "properly" and discriminate by asking recruiters not to hire people from certain backgrounds.
The managers are also all overbearing bullies. They don't pay people properly OR on time. They have no HR department. Fraud is literally everywhere. ZERO opportunity for upwards mobility because promotion is never based on skill or merit.

If you are looking for a fun work environment UP is the place for you. They have several Charities they work for and all are amazing to learn about. Upper management for me took their time and really pushed all of us to be better. My manager would always say "If you want to be better at fundraising we can help you get there" and thats exactly what happened. Days can be long but the culture and energy the team has really makes the day go by faster. Every time you get a donor you feel a sense of fulfillment and it is a feeling like none other. 

Met some amazing people at this job, there is no doubt that there are a handful of good people working here. But what was very ironic about the organization is that they are looking for a compassionate, caring and strong communicator however their manager/boss possessed none of these qualities. Lots of  gossiping going on that got back to me, and some disrespect through text. It really was a shame on the organization. However this doesn't remove the fact that there are amazing workers at this team, that actually encourage and give me advice on how to be better.

Completely unrealistic expectations. They barely give you training and expect you to do well within a week or risk getting fired.

Co-workers were amazing, but management was absolutely awful.

If you are working street, be prepared to work in VERY bad conditions. If you are working mall, be prepared to be put into a terrible spot and still expected to get at least 2 donors a day.

You WON'T be paid $18/hour unless you are team leader. You will most likely be paid $16/hour and not get enough hours and even get sent home if you are not performing as well as they like.

Terrible work culture, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

The work itself is not bad, to break it down you're basically pitching to random people about a certain charity and getting them to donate. It doesn't get boring since you're constantly in a change of environment and sometimes end up meeting really cool people on the job. However, the management/bosses are just plain atrocious. They don't value their employees which is why they are constantly hiring. Apart from the management, there wasn't a single employee who has been there for over a year, and for very good reasons. 

This was a great job after graduating undergrad. I worked for about 8 months as a Fundraiser while applying for grad school and it was a great opportunity to improve soft skills like sales/communication. 

Some days are really challenging with lots of rejection but when you get donations it feels really rewarding and the bonuses are decent. This isn’t the job for anyone afraid of rejection or approaching others, but if you like talking with people all day it can be a fun learning experience.
