I’ve gained valuable insights into time management, problem-solving, and collaboration. The role has also helped me develop a deeper understanding of the industry and sharpen my professional skills.

Management:
Management is generally supportive and provides clear guidance, but there’s room for more open communication and feedback. They encourage growth and ensure that resources are available to meet objectives.

Workplace culture:
The workplace culture is collaborative and respectful. It fosters a positive environment where everyone feels encouraged to share ideas, though there could be more emphasis on work-life balance.

The hardest part of the job:
The most challenging part of the job is managing tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality. It can sometimes be difficult to juggle multiple priorities at once.

The most enjoyable part of the job:
The most enjoyable part is the sense of accomplishment after completing a project and seeing the positive impact of our work. There’s also great satisfaction in collaborating with a supportive and motivated team.

a typical day was to chase any problem that interfered with production, we had a great team of very experienced people that could quickly solve any issue and for the most part got along without any big personality clashes

management was almost totally ignorant about the intricacies of day to day operations and struggles, refusing to trust any recommendations but their own and generally believing only the most negative evaluations of people and situations

co-workers made everything worth while knowing that they depended on their jobs, to their credit the management gave almost everyone who put in an honest effort a wide accommodation in taking care of personal business when the time off was required and gave a lot of second third forth fifth sixth seventh... chances to people with personal problems

the hardest part of the job was getting changes made to improve things, it either had to be done secretly or for all the wrong reasons and then GOD HELP YOU if it caused any disruptions

the best part was the days when everyone was happy and we felt like life was good and everything was working well

I recently started with Vanderwell. It was a great career move for me. Vanderwell is a “Big – Little Company”. You have all the advantages of a big company: competitive wage, bonuses, good benefits, clear policies, a great support team. You also get the perks of a small company: personable and supportive management, flexibility, room for creativity, very little bureaucracy. If you have an idea for a change, it’s easy to implement; you don’t have to wait months for an answer from “corporate”. 

Another perk of working for Vanderwell is a consistent schedule (no rotating shifts) and paved roads from Slave Lake to the front door of your work area.  

*A typical day would involve regular operating procedures. Cut/measure/cut (insert thumb measurement emoji)
*Learned a lot from different tradesmen, and special talented individuals.
*Management would give us turkeys every Christmas, and a free item once year.
*Interesting work culture, wokeness level is high.
*Hardest part of the day would be the noise.
*Most enjoyable part of the job, greasing the equipment and enjoying the nice quiet hum of the machine churn all day. Soon as those hum noises elevated you would know your days would be getting more interesting.

I'm kicking myself for leaving.

A casual (not in a grubby way) atmosphere lends itself to one of my better work experiences.  The pay was middle-road, but it was a positive atmosphere with minimal unnecessary tension. 

In terms of business development, the management is pretty progressive and doesn't waste time in getting 'the ball rolling', but at the same time is circumspect in choosing vendors.

The company is different than most major companies in that it is family run and decisions are made quickly. They truly believe in their core values and the communities that employees live and spend time in. All employees are treated equal with lots of opportunity for input. The senior management is always available and willing to discuss things.

A great place to work. They care about their people and go to great lengths to look after them. 
A very challenging job. get to work with a lot of people.
A great group that works well together.
They have great company activities.
Lots of new trucks, trailers and yard equipment purchased in the last 2 years.

Vanderwell gave me the opportunity to learn many different skills that helped get me where I am today. Fast paced environment with a great group of people who work well together. Management is easy to approach and wants the best for their employees.  

Great place, great people. These guys are on the ball when it comes to equipment maintenance, the pay is good and I was treated more than fair while I was employed with them. 
After 2.5 years i left vanderwells to start my own little business, I'd have no issues working for them again!

Ths  family business is very unprofessional,very poor management.safety training is very bad.site supervisor are bad people.treated  a labourer like animal.you guys should act more professional and go for more training on how to respect human being.Goodluck
