A typical day for me was to always be volunteering for the Variety Village Olympic weightlifting team opposed to many other volunteering positions. We would always set up for an up coming competition. This meant we pieced bleachers for the audience, set up platforms for other teams to practice on during warm ups, and lastly we would move thousands of pounds of lifting bars/weights for the competition to happen. I learned the process of management from my coach, he taught us all how work as a team to get a large task at hand done quicker and easier, but most importantly correctly. The management was very pleasant, which allowed a very smooth communication between the management and the volunteers. My co-workers were all volunteers from the team, or friends/family of members on the team. The hardest part of the volunteering was moving all the weights from one part of the building to the other. The most enjoyable part of this experience was after all that hard work we were able to watch the athletes perform, which by far is worth it in the end.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The part time staff are the reason that place stays open. They are funny, outgoing teenagers who make those children smile and do their best to ensure maximum inclusion 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Never be acknowledged for the good you do and only the mistakes are acknowledged. The manager refuses to say hi to part time staff and never has anything nice to say

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. Hard to get out of but once you do it you realize there is so much more 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Scan in, walk to your area of the building, get updated on what’s going by those you’re taking off and get going

Management hides in their office and perpetuates a culture of favouritism when they aren’t working out in the gym during work hours.  After working here many years you receive no raises, no positive feedback, and in some cases they may cut your hours if you bother them too much or simply humiliate you in privacy. huge culture of misogyny reflected on all levels of the organization, no matter how hard you work to make a difference you will be pushed back every step of the way.  Not a job for anyone with a good work ethic

Dubrovnik is a prime example of the effects of mass tourism, a global phenomenon in which the increase in people travelling means standout cites — particularly small ones — get overwhelmed by crowds. As the numbers of

- designing programs for both individuals with disabilities and able bodied.
- I was able to be creative with different approaches and was given the support to follow through....!
- the facility is designed for Individuals with Disabilities which creates a totally diversified environment.
- the employees are well trained, empathetic, knowledgeable and the most amazing people to work with.
- opportunities abound for career and advancement

This was a great environment to work in, I was always learning something new. A typical day would be meeting all the kids talking to them, getting them ready for the day. Then taken part in various activities. We would have lunch, then go onto more activities and then send them home. We would tell the parents how good the children were on that day. The most enjoyable part of the would be meeting all the kids an learning about the different disabilities and how to help them individually.

I shadowed personal trainers and left with the experience knowing what to do and what not to do with clients. Both in regards to fitness training but nutritional coaching. I as well spent a fair amount of time with the power lifting department. Through this experience I learned tricks of the trade, and gained invaluable knowledge I use with each of my current clients.

a very nice , respectful and fun workplace , especially in the summer. i really enjoyed working at variety village helping those kids that were  physically and mentally disabled. it was a very humbling experience for me as a person. i would totally do it again!

It is a great and opened place. It has well-trained staff members. It is an environment which welcomes anyone and everyone. It specifically welcomes participants who have different types of disorders and disabilities. While working with these specific participants you must be extremely patient and well trained.

I enjoyed working as a swim instructor and lifeguard through high school. As a part time employee I enjoyed consistent hours around my school schedule. Variety Village is a charity and you can recognize the work that you do make positive changes in the members lives.
