Voyageur Medical Transportation

Anyone working for a patient transfer company in the stretcher trucks is under paid.  Voyageur is the largest of its kind in Ontario.  They have tried to get people to become brokers throughout most of the company to pass the financial risk off to them.  Even the brokers.... if looked at from a taxation point of view, would be considered emp[loyees, but with all the risk.  The compant is, as most companys are, concerned about the bottom line... the profits, risk assessment, and being responsible for as little as possible, while reaping most of the benefits.  They have been playing that game very well.  Unfortunately, the only good reason to work here, as an employee, is to get experience around trucks, patients and hospitals if you are a paramedic student or grad, or you are retired and just looking for a way to help others and make some cash doing it.  The company relies completely on people in these situations as front-line employess.  If you are a dedicated person, looking for descent full-time employment, where you can support yourself and family, look somewhere else.

a good inside job for anybody seeking future employment in any healthcare setting. Constantly meeting new faces from doctors, to nurses to finally patients all with something different they teach you. 
Hours are minimum 12 hours to maximum about 16 because the dispatch flows on a need for workers at the given time basis. If there are plenty of patients to pick up then you are looking at a long day but if it is dead you may get standby time and to go home early.

Excellent place to gain exposure to medical field and direct patient care. Intrinsically rewarding. 
Work for a brokerage which means.  No job security, no benefits, unpredictable work hours, no employee recognition, no room for advancement, equipment in poor condition, poor worker training, must pay for your own uniform and work boots,  low employee moral.
The job itself is very enjoyable.

Hardest Part of the job was the lack of organization by the management team. Cooperation between co-workers was lacking greatly. Enjoyable Part of the job was the geographical exposure to new and exciting places.

Okay type of job, nothing special but nothing that's an absolute deal breaker. You either work a 12 hour shift, or you don't work that day. Every two weeks, we pick the days we want to work, but might not always get then. Job needs a emergency first responder cert, but barely pays above min wage.

Pay was not anywhere close to be self sufficient and the expectations of working up to 24 hours straight with no lunch or breaks... 
Management lacks the ability to listen to any concerns regarding salary, and health and safety issues...

Toxic work environment and low wages. There was not a lot of room for advancement. Last minute call ins.
Hardest part of the job was trying to get along with the others that worked there.
Enjoyable when i was able to go home


Good experience for paramedics looking for jobs. Good work culture and management. Makes you more independent to work as an individual. Good coordination between management and operations making running business smooth

Supervisors are almost non-existent if you need help with anything but the coworkers are what makes the job good. No job security either and almost no help from anyone but your direct coworker.

I think it's a great job to gain experience in the medical/health field. It's great for aspiring paramedics, nurses and firefighters.
