A typical day at work would include regular retail tasks, selling to customers and clientelling. Management was okay. I found they had a hard time connecting with employees on a personal level. Naturally in smaller companies there will be some form of favouritism. The overall work environment was very laidback and relaxed, with that came a lack of structure and career growth. Sales employees aren’t given sales goals or a commission. This would be a good position for you if you’re motivated to create relationships with clients but understand you won’t necessarily be rewarded for the volume of sales you make. This works for some and not others. The turnover rate is quite high. The hardest part of the job is navigating workplace politics. The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting new people, making genuine connections with customers and colleagues, and being surrounded by beautiful clothing and accessories.

A typical day at VSP Consignment can feel hostile if you are a person of color. Management ignores discriminatory behavior, and there is little accountability. The workplace culture lacks diversity and inclusivity, creating an unsafe and uncomfortable environment. I learned how important it is to speak up, even when it’s difficult. The hardest part of the job was enduring microaggressions and favoritism based on race. The only enjoyable part was working with a few supportive coworkers, but overall, leadership fosters a toxic atmosphere that needs immediate change.

Growth within the company is essentially non existent, you get offered a $1 raise which is baffling and laughable. Basically minimum wage unless you're one of 2-3 top people. Work culture is definitely has a high school like hierarchy. Access to cool archival designer fashion.
