Every single employee has had issues. The expectations are extreme. There are no benefits and the pay is not enough for what you do. You apply for one job and end up doing everything else. The best part of the work are the kids but the Employer is horrible. He treats staff horribly, being passive aggressive, yelling in front of kids and volunteers. The staff essentially feel bullied and when you bring it up, he will become agitated and refuses to listen. There is no training and no understanding of proper workplace environment. You’ll be called or messaged when you’re not working and have to deal with constant negativity. 
No one’s lasted longer than a year. If you have a better opportunity, take the other one. If you have no other option, prepare to be depressed and get anxiety when thinking about work. Possibly leading to having to take a break from work and end up being fired or forced to quit. The kids are great, some activities are fun but you aren’t fully prepared for what is expected of you and you will get yelled at for it. The interview may seem pleasant but the work environment is not.

Kinda are amazing and such a joy to work with, but there’s a reason the management has such a hard time keeping staff, and it’s not the kids; most of the people didn’t last more than a couple months because of the impossible standards he puts on people. I could go on forever about management and the stuff I went through, but the kids were a joy to work with, and they deserve all the things the program provides for them because, putting aside the stress you're put through by management, it's really an amazing program.

I enjoyed working with West Broadway Youth Outreach because I was able to see children in a whole new light and work with them in many different settings. 

I think it prepared me for future endeavors in that I feel more confident in handling situations that might seem difficult. I also feel more comfortable with the thought of parenting.

This id a great organization and I am grateful for the many fun experiences I was able to enjoy with the children and my co-workers.

I enjoyed helping with setting up the musical instruments and helping setting up the yoga mate. I enjoyed doing yoga with the kids because the yoga helped me relaxed. I help the kids with the musical instrument and help them played many instrument during the time spent there. I got along with the co-worker well but they were a lot older than me so we did not share the same interest in  like sport.

Management does not have boundaries. You do not receive training for your role and often end up with more than one role with no extra pay. Pay is low, there are no benefits, even if you work full time hours. No investment in staff, team building, or longevity of the programs. The kids are amazing, and that’s what kept me coming to work, but the toxicity of this work environment forced me to leave. 

West Broadway Youth Outreach is a wonderful place for kids who are from 5 and up. WBYO provides the opportunities for kids to learn and grow in an atmosphere where their basic emotional, social and educational needs

The volunteers are treated well, but the staff were treated very poorly. It seemed to be an extremely toxic work environment. If you want to be involved with WBYO I recommend volunteering rather than being an employee.  

I found that WBYO is a very friendly and helpful place to help children and young adults grow in a community without any fear of gang violence, Drug abuse and Racist-ism

If you want to get a good look into the future of what working is, then volunteering at WBYO is definitely a good idea for you, it gives you very in depth look of what its like in the work force.

Volunteer of which I am part of sharing different activities such as help with homework, reading club, video games and sports with children between 4-16 years
