So I worked in the new metal division for just over a year, and here was my full year experience, the first 3-6 months were good everything went super smoothly, the crew was great project was moving forward pretty quickly and smoothly. After the first 6months is where everything started to go bad, from employees stealing tools from
Each other, basic materials not either being ordered or showing up on time, guys standing around for hours on end not doing anything. The list honestly goes on. They even asked someone to work were someone already refused when no safety changes were made. I highly recommend against working for this company. The crew is amazing set of guys and some people seem to care but it seems like they only care about the job getting done. The office staff are even worse, from not answering the phone to being to scared to tell the owner when employees don’t get paid. Which seems to happen pretty frequently, in the year I worked there they had 3 different time were payroll was an issue. In a year, there was even rumours of foreman asking employees to wait till the following pay period

Good things - I had the pleasure of meeting and working with some wonderful folks. I learned a lot through the “learn as you go” philosophy. Pay was decent. 

Bad things - I have never worked for an individual who truly could not give a patootie less about his people. It’s actually very sad. The team there throughout the years have been very good and very skilled. Although that might equal appreciate and respect at another place…it is not the same there. You could be praised in the morning for doing something well and by noon, be served a “pink slip” but not until your beat down and dragged though the mud. 

There are great places in Calgary and surrounding areas to work at if you’re looking for work and being fairly paid, unfortunately for your own mental sanity … politely pass on this place and maybe pray for those that are still there. 

iv been with west pointe for over a year and like most i started at the bottom within a few months i proved my exp on my resume wasn't bs and i started to advance in the company quickly. a year later i am foreman i told the company what i wanted and they worked along side with me to achieve it... without the support of all the management i wouldn't be in the position i am today.. so like i said in the summary work hard and prove your worth it and they will help you succeed. i guarantee all the negativity is from people who just couldn't make the cut and like any team they want the best so give it to them

This company has honed workplace nepotism and favoritism to an art form....Owner constantly over reacts and makes emotional decisions that impact the business negatively....constantly looking to place blame on individuals who get tossed aside regularly to compensate for decisions made by others.........the culture is stressful and will never improve, job security is non existent for most individuals ....they haven't even updated their website in years , ask around for an honest evaluation of this company and you will go elsewhere>

Starting out here truly wasn’t bad at all, an ok pay but for the amount of jobs I was doing a bit more wouldn’t hurt, pretty nice people but that’s excluding the higher ups. A toxic work place that lacks any form of communication and always has a fear of being fired. Apart from that some of the higher ups during my time hear never once even took the time to say Goodmorning and treated me as if I was just another name to pay out to and that’s it. There’s so many better places to work where you’ll be treated with respect and unfortunately west pointe isn’t one of them, that’s if unless you enjoy people talking behind your back and scapegoats constantly being used. 

so I've been here for about a month, I'm one of the office staff, while i cant say much for the labor crews the office is honestly a really nice place to be. it can be a bit stressful sometimes due to just red tape but upon coming into the office i have created several ways to fix up and streamline and it was all just because I asked if I could try to fix an issue. what I'm trying to say is that the office is very open to try change to attempt to make it easier on the office to deal with the crew requests and make everything work as fast as possible. most of our office people are from trades so it's nice to because to actually just talk shop about issues.

I worked for West point building services for six months. It’s the most unorganized company I’ve ever worked for in 10 years. 
They hire whoever Walks through the door if you don’t work out they’ll fire you. They give you nothing to succeed  work you like you’re a piece of meat. Blame the people in the field for office  mismanagement . I strongly advise DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY.

Decent place to work. There are definitely things that can be improved. I find administration and management to be fairly helpful and culture is improving by the day. Communication between office and field has improved a lot since I have been here and I see less frustration from other people in the field now. 

There's was a lot turnover in the summer but honestly it was mainly people who couldn't even lift a hammer. Ridiculous they were hired in the first place.

i have been working with west pointe for a few months now, from the start i knew it was going to be a great place to work as it was very welcoming everyone i spoke to was willing to help me learn and advance. the safety team are a great help especially when you get hurt they are there 100pct of the way

The office have no idea what they are doing, they frequently do not return phone call or emails and lay all the blame on the field guys. Foreman are frequently fired after a job is completed, field guys are constantly being told they will get raises and then never getting them. tools and material are not supplied and personal tools are not looked after as per their contract
