A typical day at work at morrisons for me would have been dealing with a number of customers and deal with any problems they have, as well as managing the Grocery Department in store which included making sure all jobs were being done to a certain standard and making sure all stock was correctly merchandised and legally labelled up correctly. All these jobs needed doing corrrectly and to a good standard to ensure we reached our targets and we did succesfully with the department often taking more then 300,000 pounds per week. I was also in charge of completing the rota for my department which included over 20 employees, working out when we needed people to be working when we were going to be at our busiest and making sure we had enough stuff to cover the jobs that needed doing and maximising our sales potential. The hardest part of the job was looking over all the staff when they were going about their jobs to make sure they were doing everything correct. This was sometimes hard work but some of the staff would get distracted easily and i needed to make sure they were getting on with the required jobs whilst also making sure the department was up to scratch. The most enjoyable part was always meeting new people, be it new customers coming into store, new employees starting or external representatives coming into store. I learned a lot during my time with the company but most importantly different management styles. 

Several years ago, this was a great company to work for. You were treated with respect, given full supervised training for your job role, and received lots of support on shift to complete work when you were under pressure. Since the takeover in late 2021, the business's heart and soul are slowly being squeezed to the point of suffocation. A restrictive store wages budget makes it almost impossible to get your job done to a high standard as you are expected to do the job of multiple people. Many colleagues end up working through their breaks to try and get everything done. Every week, you have to check through your timecard to make sure you haven't had breaks added that you didn't take. Most managers do their best but spend most of their time on the shop floor stacking shelves rather than helping, supporting and managing their respective departments. The pay has improved over the years, and Morrisons are the market leader in this field, but what they expect in return is unrealistic. I'm hanging on for the potential redundancy payment, else I'd have jump shipped months ago.

A typical day at work starts at 7:00 AM to prepare the shop flour for the trading period to begin at 8:00 AM to 21:00 PM. I normally work from 7:00 to 16:00 or 17:00 depending on how busy the day is and the number of staffs available at work. Have learned to work under pressure, at the same time offering effective and efficient customer service to our esteem customers, knowing fully well that they are the reason for our existence. Have also learn to deal with difficult customers, and also different types of customers from different countries, since London is a multicultural city. Am quick to learn, and like to take up responsibilities and to help others that might be struggling in the team, i will describe myself as a good team player. Have also being given the opportunity to take up key responsibilities in the absent of our supervisor, such as drawing the daily sales plan, code checking, weekly rotas and filling up the legal paper work of our department. The hardest part of the job, is when busy trading hours with less staff to cover the rota. the most enjoyable part of the job for me was to deal with different types of customers, from different ethnicity.

A typical day working in administation at Morrisons is very fast paced. There are always jobs to be achieved and deadlines to be met. This working environment is where I excel. I have learned to become an extremely organised person who prioritises the work load in accordance to being the most important. The management of the work place is what makes the job tough, they only see the smooth surface of each employees job, they are not sympathetic to the hard work that goes in ensuring task are met. However my co-workers are a brilliant team to work with, we all have a passion for our job which along with my enthusiasm helps everyone to achieve our deadlines. I would say the hardest part of the job is simply enjoying what I do but having an urge to branch out to another company and give myself a new challenge. The employees at Morrisons are all quite comfortable in their job which doesn't give other members of staff the chance to progress within the company. The most enjoyable part of my job is the people I work with in my department and facing different scenaios on a daily basis which keeps me enthusiac for my job and eager to learn.

The members of staff that I work with are some of the most amazing people that I have met. We also have some wonderful customers that we get to know and they are a joy to speak with. However, if I was asked would I recommend working for Morrisons, I would say run a mile. Managers in our store are bullies. They speak to staff members like something they scrapes off of the bottom of their shoe. They bully and don’t take responsibility for their own mistakes. Our store has a high turnover of staff, and the ones that do stay are treated like children. We do not have enough members of staff to run the store, and often members of staff are left to run 2/3 departments in their own. Managers will not help of asked and tend to spend all of their time either in the office or working together down one isle ‘capping’ if two members of staff are seen to be talking, even for a minute they will make comments or have a go at you. Even if the talk was work related. But they spend the day together in one isle because they can not work alone to put stock out. 

Always something which goes wrong on a daily basis. The team leaders are nobody’s who have been given some sort of authority and have no management capabilities whatsoever and instead bully colleagues into doing what they want them to do. 
Now onto the driving - let’s start with the positives which are limited to the extra pay and not having to deal with the team leaders/management for 8 hours. Other than that the shifts are extremely stressful as you are constantly clock watching trying to make the delivery slots which is impossible especially working out of a store in Cornwall. You are not given time for a break which is dangerous especially as a driver. The vans are always damaged and never seem to get fixed, there is loads of paperwork to do which again adds work to the load which we don’t have time for. Unfortunately this all means you can’t give good customer service to the customers as you are rushing to get to the next drop. Only work here if you are desperate!

What is the best part of working at the company?
I worked as a part-time temporary member of staff over Christmas . And was assured that if I kept good timekeeping and worked hard that after this period I would be kept on which I did but come the month of January. I was given no more work. I feel let down by the company and wouldn’t advise anybody to work for Morrisons.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lack of care, they take with their staff and the attitude from management towards staff

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. Most people are generally unhappy and not locked after when I started at Morrisons. I was led to believe you were made to be trapped like part of a family and in fact you were tracked like a piece of on somebody’s shoe.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful they expect you to do a lot and the breaks are very short. I feel let down by Morrisons. I would never dream to work there again. It was such a bad experience in my life.

Working at in this company made me such a confident person before working there i was timid but since then i had opened up a real peoples person. A typical day there was very fast paced and busy environment which i loved, was very challenging but you learned so much.

The hardest part of the job was always having every product there in need for customers with such a long line of customers waiting but me and my co workers always worked together as a team and always got through it quick. The management were excellent was always around checking things were alright and sorted out any problems if there was any.

The best part about working there was meeting different people everyday, everyday was so different. I even built friendships with regular customers that came in everyday/week. Also everyone i worked we all got along so well always put a smile on customers faces.

My typical day at Morrison's includes working on the checkouts. I serve customers and can help them with their enquires. 
From this job, I have learnt many transferable skills such as good communication and being adaptable to be able to meet the customers need. 
Morrison's is very diverse with the staff they hire and the management ensure we all have equal opportunities of progressing within the company. 
I genuinely enjoy my job and the people I work with. The hardest part of my job is when there is not enough supervisors on duty and all 16 tills are open. We are occasionally left waiting for a while before the supervisor can assist us. This leaves customers very frustrated.

I would walk in, greet everyone on the back of the shop and get to work by restocking the shelves, clean the floor,sometimes work as a cashier and help the customers with their shopping. Usually on weekdays the supermarket would be packed and and I'd have to do my usual work plus to help the customers by trying to find ways to solve their problems. The management will treat you like family,the co-workers will make sure you work in a friendly and positive environment. The hardest part will be on the first few weeks where you don't the aisles and you don't know how or where to direct the customer. The most enjoyable part is that after you learn things that will help you go through your day easier, it feel like you own the shop and that you know it like your own body.
