Typical day at work is slow, you handle member transactions.
Learned not to trust management.
Workplace culture is not bad, tolerable thanks to other co workers.
Hardest part of the job is watching the branch manager get away with doing absolutely no work whatsoever and leaving and coming back whenever he wants.
Most enjoyable part of the job is handling member requests and developing relationships.
They do not support their employees and branch manager will throw you under the bus whenever it’s convenient for him. He leaves the branch and does his own personal stuff during work hours and he doesn’t know how certain systems work. HR is not supportive at all. Overall a terrible experience!


What is the best part of working at the company?
Most people are friendly and willing to help when you are learning something new. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The wrong people are hired based on who you know. The salary increases favour under performers. Higher performers have little incentive. Bonuses are are based on how much your manager likes you. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Cliquey. Union seems separate from management. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
9-5 work day during the week. Hours are stable.

I learned that you when a company treats employees with trust and respect, the employee is more productive, more willing to take initiatives and work hard to earn that trust.
Coworkers are the nicest group of people to work with. Just like any other work place, the people define the environment.
The hardest part of the job is to ensure that I exceed expectation but it is also the easy part because I wanted to do it.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the people that surrounded me, who give me the space to think freely to find the best solution for the task at hand

YNCU is the best place I ever worked. The roles are very challenging and busy but rewarding. The leadership is proactive and listens to their employees. They make changes to align themselves to position themselves better for the future, including for members and employees. They have great technology, culture, benefits, pay, promotion, community involvement. I never should have left. 

YNCU is a fabulous place to work!  Right from the get go, the team welcomed me and brought me into the circle.  Friendly, professional with sincere comradery.  This is obvious at both the branches and corporate.  Most of all, I have always felt that I had the freedom to speak up without retribution, that my ideas and suggestions were welcome and that it was easy to establish myself as a respected professional.

The management and my co-workers form a positive work culture - backstabbing and negativity do not exist. The company doesn't just talk about work-life balance, they live it. The company runs employee contests throughout the year. They provide professional training in your area if you require it. There is also an opportunity to earn a bonus every year. I'm glad that I work here.

I have worked at YNCU for many years. I am very glad I made the move here. YNCU has lots of opportunity to develop your skills and for advancement. Pay and benefits are excellent, and they have flexible working arrangements. They also have lots of initiatives to give back to the local communities they are located in, and are always trying to enhance the employee culture. Lots of great staff at YNCU! 

Working as a teller at YNCU was a solid starting point for getting my foot in the door in the financial industry. The role itself was fairly basic and routine, which made it easy to learn and build confidence early on. The managers were supportive and approachable, creating a positive and comfortable work environment. Overall, it was a good entry-level experience that helped me understand the fundamentals of banking and customer service.

This place is toxic from the top down.  The leadership is controlling and intimidates you to confirm to their ways. The direction is constantly changing so you never know what is expected of you. Leadership is living in the stone age and doesn't want anyone to challenge their ways. Egos everywhere. One mistake and you are done for. Take your expertise to a credit union that will appreciate you.

YNCU is a great place to work ensuring that members and staff are the main focus in change. Emphasis on work-life balance and personal wellness has been a cornerstone of changes over the last couple years. It is a large enough company to offer great resources to employees as well as small enough to be heard. Chief Leadership Team and other Senior Leadership have shown that they care about listening to employee needs.
