Toxic would be the word. 

I spent several years in the production department of this company and while the projects can be exciting, the office politics are poisonous and seem to catch up with everyone who passes through. I would recommend working here to someone who is interested in a limited engagement because it certainly offers the opportunity for professional growth (caveat: it is rare that any production attracts an outside audience). That said, I would strongly caution anyone looking for a place to settle down –  upper management has a history of being psychologically manipulative and just outright brutal to employees.  Zoomer is the absolute centre of the universe for these people, and you are expected to believe the same. What I learned from my time there was that it was best to know when to quit.

There's a very corporate culture with a lot of negativity in the air. Zoomer is a 9AM-5PM workplace and many employees are packing up at 4:59 and heading to the door.  Approx 30+ employees are union members. The management is not part of the union so there's division btwn union and non-union members. There's no communication btwn departments and even within a department there is little discussion and therefore lots of inefficiencies. It would be nice if they were open to change and trying to do things differently, but unfortunately there isn't. Sadly, the best part of the day is when it's time to leave.

If you would like to learn about a key demographic (baby boomers) affecting all aspects of the Canadian economy, you should work here for a while. 

ZoomerMedia is a place where alot of learning happens when you don't even realise it. As Marketing Planner, a typical day at work involved planning cross-media marketing initiatives, assisting with media bookings, and formulating best strategies for corporate marketing. 

Great colleagues, great co-workers. Topdown management is probably biggest drawback though. 


Working at Zoomer was a great experience.

I came in as a consultant on one project and got to work on several different and exciting digital initiatives.

I learned a lot about using digital to cross promote and connect, web, radio, TV and print.

Management is accessible and easy to deal with.

The hardest part of the job was coordinating action between different departments.

My favorite part of the day was brainstorming new ideas with various people at the company.

The company has diversified and now owns many small digital platforms on top of two radio stations that rank in the bottom five of all Toronto radio stations so very difficult to make your budgets and be happy working there not to mention management is difficult to please and makes it a very depressing place to work.

Quite productive and a good place to work. Learnt using various software, data entry skills, organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills as well as interaction with different departments within the organization to maintain a smooth workflow.

The biggest problem in this company, at least during my time there, was the lack of communication between departments. Rather than a group of teams working together towards a common goal, it is more like silos with individual agendas.

Toxic, unhealthy culture, employees terribly treated.  Dated, recycled ideas, creativity is stunted by bad management.  The good people there never get promoted, or are quickly pushed out.  Zero support or accountability from management.  

The best part of the job is the people, while the worst part of the job is all the other people. 

But it is a fun place to work and you get to see the fruit of your labour pretty quickly.

Filled with incompetent people with big egoes.  This was by far the worst experience of my life.  No pros to working here at all.  The cons list is too big to even bother with.  Warning!  Stay clear of this S%!t hole!
