I worked at Aerie for just over half a year in a part time position as I attended university (and while I was out of school during summer break). In the time that I was there I maybe worked a TOTAL of 10-12 shifts (maximum). The location I worked at promised to work with my university schedule but instead decided to schedule me for shifts outside of my availability (repeatedly). As a full time student, there are expenses such as books, food, and housing that cannot go ignored...However, when you are scheduled it is typically for the minimum amount of time (3 hours) which is not enough to cover most people's expenses. Additionally, the store I worked at had a total of 55 employees and consistently hired new employees (even when other employees were looking to have more hours)-which made little to no sense and ultimately led several employees to quit including myself. Long story short..DO NOT WORK HERE if you are a college/university student or have expenses that surpass $50 bi-weekly (unless you have supplementary work). Finally, the staff I worked with were very friendly for the most part but there were the select few that engaged in gossip and belittling other staff members; this sometimes made shifts awkward and uncomfortable (especially in the beginning while training). The good news is it is very team-work oriented so you aren't often left alone to do things by yourself but it still can be overwhelming during busy periods (back to school and Christmas). It was mostly well managed, the manager in particular is wonderful and extremely understanding!  Finally, the customers were the best part of the job and the employee discounts were always a bonus!

They have a leaders management method where there's the workers (about 8) then the leaders (5) and the main manager. This causes a lot of stress when you're at the "bottom of the chain". You'll have lots of people looking over you, yet, when there's an issue it's difficult to get people to listen. They are very strict on cleaning in the store, I would say it's their priority. I've been told "the client can wait" during training. I've had to make it clear over several conversations that I wanted to reduce my hours for school before seeing a decrease in hours. The manager would have meetings where she'd compare us to each other and tell everyone what we needed to work on in a group setting. They also had us say, in front of the leaders, which leader we liked the least. 

This company has some of the worst management I have ever seen, and that says a lot considering I have been in retail for 9 years. Not only from the store level but from the district and region. They love to talk about how important culture is and having a work-life balance is until you actually try to create a balance. It is clear that making goals is more important than the health and well-being of their staff. I had to take medical leave and had to give them 3 doctors notes from a family doctor, an ER doctor and my specialist. The manager even said to me once "I have sympathy for a day, then I have to run a business." If that doesn't show a lack of compassion and/or care for your staff I don't know what does.

Such an amazing atmosphere to work in, even on the busier days. If you’re new to the job, it’s likely you’ll get no more than one shift (4 hours) a week during the off-season. However, in the winter and Labour Day weekend your paycheck is pretty stellar if you’re a student. You’ll definitely need another job to keep yourself afloat until you start moving up the chain. 

I enjoyed it here really, the coworkers were great (the best part of the job in my opinion) and management were nice enough, the discounts were great (60% off wow) and all in all not bad. Customers were generally friendly as well.

Cons are if you are new or seasonal you will probably be stuck in room 1 (you actually can’t leave) and genuinely if there is nothing to do you will be bored out of your mind especially in the mornings when it’s slower. If you’re part-time they also schedule you 4h45minutes a lot instead of 5h so that they don’t have to give you a break which sucked a lot for me and gave my shin issues. 
Otherwise if you’re in fits, room 3 (undie bar) or cash this is a super fun job!!! 

i applied for a regular brand ambassador part-time, but when i recieved the job they said it was a temporary job for the holiday season. i worked from october till january and i didnt get an account to recieve my schedule for over two weeks so they would text me the day of and ask me to come in like i was on call. the 5 months that i worked there i was put on the schedule ONCE for black friday, i wasnt even put on for boxing day which i was apprently hired for i had to call the manager and ask if i was getting a shift. overall i worked maybe a total of 5 or 6 shifts in the five months for basically ONE SHIFT PER MONTH that i worked there

Everyone at this job is very friendly and willing to help. I was greeted with kindness and was given many opportunities to learn and grow in my position.  Aerie wants to see you succeed and they know how to help you grow. Before working here I was very shy and was not confident in my speaking abilities. My managers identified this and put in roles where I would be forced to practice this. Despite being uncomfortable at the beginning, I know look forward to speaking with customers. This job has given me confidence and has allowed me to look forward to presentations in my life as a university student.

Aerie, as its own brand, propels an important and meaningful experience for it's customers. The message of body positivity was so inspiring and it was something if felt i could connect with while working there. The position itself was pretty easy. I learned how to properly measure women for their bra size and learned about how different bras look best on different bodies. The only con was the management team. I worked with a store manager who had a very bipolar personality and not easy to please. Oh and having to fold every single panty in the store was annoying. But overall, cool experience.

This store burned through managers in my time there, and for a long stretch, we had NO store manager. The final manager was very negative and had internalized fatphobia despite the company itself having a body positive image. She would often speak badly of customers and was constantly judgmental, especially toward poc. The job itself was fine, I enjoyed the stock tasks and was able to listen to music while I completed tasks. The discount was pretty good as well, and there were opportunities for growth.

Aerie is the best place I have worked. I love the whole company of american eagle but aerie was on an other level. The culture and campaign of aerie is centred around self love and pushing the boundaries of "beauty" and I was living for it. i came to work excited every day to make some woman feel gorgeous and comfortable in our attire. As with retail and it being such a small store for the most part enough hours were hard to come by but with such a great atmosphere I would say that was almost worth it haha. Great first job if your young and looking.
