There are some characters at this job that make you feel like you constantly need to be on your toes watching your every move.   Being trained by senior staff with varying opinions/requirements on how things should be done makes work an intimidating and often stressful experience , other staff have sailors mouths and don’t seem to care about how they make others feel when talking about their personal lives etc . the work itself would be more tolerable if you didn’t have to worry about upsetting the staff by being in their space. The ceo tends to let people go without any notice in order to cut costs. HR department and quality control department both disappeared one day without notice and nothing we could do about it.  stark differences between office workers fake optimism and techs uninspiring anttitude working  away all day. CEO needs to put aside his ego, be more involved and be more generous with wages and getting to know his staff. It was an okay experience but do not recommend to anyone looking to grow with a company.

The company needed to slow down to speed up.   Rushed product development activities with poorly defined requirements led to multiple unsuccessful launches.   There would be a much higher success rate if the more time was spent understanding the real problems customers face each day, and then using the core technologies to solve them.    Trust (and more accurately the absolute lack thereof) of the senior leadership with the coal face is a serious constraint, and multiple unpredicted changes in direction occur so frequency that it is difficult to understand what the most important thing to do is.   Too much time is spent worrying about how many hours are being worked vs. how efficient the processes are.   There are some seriously talented people there, and I am convinced that the right leadership could kickstart some serious growth.  

Had a terrible experience with the management they were never there was never provided with training or support to learn my job.  Manager didn’t know what was being asked was not possible to do but was directed to do it anyway.  Sat there most days with nothing to do having to ask for tasks that seemed to be thought up on the fly.  Manager was there less than half the full days I was.   Approached manager about lack of work many times and concerns that tasks did not fit job description and no clear job tasks.  Ultimately was correct and was shown the door when management realized tasks delegated were impossible to do.  Manager constantly fighting with other department to prove themselves and justify their position and mine.  Manager trying to make name for themselves at my expense and expected me to do things they couldn’t and way beyond the scope of job I was hired to do.  Run I was thrown under the bus

As a privately owned family business, it's no surprise that nepotism runs rampant, with family members occupying positions for which they are woefully unqualified. This has created a toxic environment where competence takes a backseat to last name and has lead to a revolving door of management. 

There's a glaring absence of strategic vision, leaving employees floundering in disorganization and chaos. Processes are virtually non-existent, leading to inefficiencies and frustration at every turn. It's evident that corners are cut at every opportunity, resulting in subpar offerings that fail to meet even the most basic standards. 

Raises and professional development are non-existent. The salary and benefits offered are also below average, making it difficult to justify sticking around for long. Save yourself the trouble and seek employment elsewhere.

Oh, and be prepared for layoffs, they seem to happen every few months. 


What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing is really guaranteed here, people change colors like a chameleon. 

If you are in sales be prepared for the pressure and to be sacked anytime without any intimation.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sales is stressful because there is a constant pressure to sell products and their products have manufacturing or quality defects leading to product recalls and irritated customers 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good on your face , they will try to act like your best friend and then diss you anytime 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Used to start with a nuisance 30 minute brainstorming and planning meeting which did no good to anyone

Great people and great potential, but CEO only cares about himself.  I loved my role, but ended up leaving entirely because of CEO.

If you are sheltered from CEO you might be fine, but god help you if you need to interact with him on a regular basis.  You may not notice it right away, but after a while you will see he is erratic with decision making, only cares about himself and believes he is always right.

The company has a revolving door of Sales staff.  If you are in Sales, plan to be gone within a couple years, either on your own, or shown the door.  Sales targets and incentives are hard to reach as CEO always moves the goal posts.  If you secure a big contract, plan on the CEO meddling in any bonus structure you thought you had.

There really wasn't anything. Everyone starts at different times, but all have to break together. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not being properly trained and told you are not doing it correct. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There is a ton of favoritism to the senior staff. The manager does not know how to be a manger when on the floor and chatting with a senior staff regarding non work related topics for hours throughout the week.

This company is filled with incredibly smart and talented people, but departmental silos often lead to judgment rather than collaboration. The products are innovative and exciting to work on, but shifting priorities and an ever-changing vision create instability, often resulting in layoffs or restructuring.
There is more flexibility here than some might assume.

I worked on the engineering team. At the time, by far the best group of people I ever had the pleasure to work with. My only negative experience with MetOcean was the lack of opportunity for professional growth. Lots of opportunity to learn and develop new skills, but a lack of growth in terms of working up the corporate ladder. 

Great colleagues to work with. Interesting, and diverse product offerings. President/CEO is unpredictable with his actions, and does not communicate to employees well. Does not provide a sense of job security, or that employees are valued overall.
